Adam Gase had almost nothing to do with the defense, it was all Gregg Williams show.

Gase, like our last two coaches is a coordinator and a head coach in name only.

Saying Gase did a great job when we have the last ranked offense in the league is laughable.

I'm going to disagree with you on that one man. Let me reiterate he is our head coach!? Because he's from the offensive side of the ball or calls the offensive plays does not by any means make it a must that our offensive rankings should be in the upper echelon of the league.

The strength of our team is on defense remember? That's where we've spent most of our draft picks and money over the years. Either way his job is to get wins plain and simple.  see Brian Billick

Perfect hire for Jones.  He's got himself another "yes" man who will tow the company line and do whatever Jerry tells him.

Although I think he is better than Gase, he also had one of the top 3 QB's of all time and won 1 freakin' SB. ONE!!  He got to the playoffs a lot because Rodgers hides lot of flaws. He also had many early exits in the playoffs like after they went 15-1. He has lost 3 of 4 NFC championship games. I will say this McCarthy got a way better roster with the Cowboys with a helicopter owner. When Jerry hires someone then I immediately know that HC is a yes man with no voice. At the end of the day, he has underachieved with a HOF QB so he should fit in perfectly with the Cowboys and follow in the footsteps of Garrett. With all that said I wish the Jets would have hired McCarthy over Gase, but I didn't want either of them.

I must admit I chuckle grimly to myself when I read a post dissing McCarthy for only winning one Superbowl with Rodgers.

Newsflash: winning a Superbowl is ******* hard and only one team gets to do it every year.

McCarthy was arguably hamstrung by a general manager who never spent money on free agency and let the defence run down to the point it couldn't stop a nose bleed.

There's every chance McCarthy does a Holmegren with Dallas and he never is considered for a head coaching role again.

But to knock him back as a potential candidate because he only won one Superbowl is, in my view, laughable.

Garrett had been a coach for three years (QB coach, OC) before Jones promoted Garrett to head coach and then kept him for twelve years. What team has ever shown more patience with a new coach?

True but there was trust and control over Garrett. I think that’s what went a long way.

Adam Gase is the HEAD COACH.  I really don't think anybody around here gives this guy enough credit. The entire season was an uphill battle and from his very first press conference, he has taken a Relentless bashing from the fans and media.
Both Gase and Greg Williams did a fantastic job this year in my opinion. And do not forget that the amount of injuries and illnesses, players being put on injured reserve was unprecedented.
I personally like our head coach. I like his style. I like how he handles the media. I like that he's smug. I like that he snorts Coke and eats pizza every night and is a complete dick. I like that he wears a hat to cover his crazy eyes.
Most of all I like that he had a few flubs like he was slipping on ice throughout the course of the season and came out winning six of the last eight games.
He's H.C. of the N.Y.J. And he obviously doesn't give a flying f*** what anybody thinks about him!  I love it.
I think some of the fans are so busy crapping on this guy that you're not taking a look at what's actually going on. Look how every player on this team responded despite all the adversity ... That is to be accredited to one person. Head coach Adam Gase.
Now do a line and go have a pepperoni slice cuz we'll be in the playoffs next year.  His job is to get wins just like he said. It's not about stats or where the offense ranks or fantasy football it's about coaching the entire team.
Is this a burner account ??

One of the raps on McCarthy was that he was out of the facility way too much  He wasn't exactly like those HCs that live next to their computer in the facility all night long.  Not exactly your "hardest working effort".

If any of that is true (and I have no idea), then this will be a disaster because Jones wants his guy on top of things 25 hours a day, 8 days a week.  McCarthy might not be that guy.

here is a quote from a skeptic Cowboys fan:

Quote

Sources say one of the most important factors in Mike McCarthy taking the Cowboys coaching job was that he'd have January and Februarys off!

We missed out not hiring this guy.

I think McCarthy needed the time off and that will help him and the Cowboys - have to appreciate Jones decisiveness - the Owner/GM thing has been interesting but there have not been many better run franchises over the years

Mike McCarthy has the guts to stand behind Aaron Rogers and tell GB legend Favre to take a hike when he wanted to come back again. McCarthy made Rogers career and eventually Rogers stabbed him in the back, badly. He’s a good coach and he’ll do well in DAL.

He proceeded to go 6 and 10.  Favre meanwhile lead the Jets to 9 and 7 before a shoulder injury destroyed the season and then took the Vikings to 12 and 4 and the NFC championship.  Favre in that year had 33TD's and 7 INT's and a completion percentage over 68%.  It was one of his greatest years in the NFL.

And where are those here, you know who you are, who kept swearing that MM will never get another job and always kept bringing where is MM coaching? Well, he got the most prestige HC in the league, the Cowboys.  I guess the NY media couldn't fly out to Dallas and prevent JJ from hiring this guy.

MM was interested in two teams last year the Brown and the Jets.  Both teams needed a MM to develop their young talented QB and both failed ultra predictable miserable in choosing their HC.  One owner is so desperate to win that he cut his losses and fired the guy, our clown will evaluate after two more losing season. The odd for both moribund franchise to made the right decision last year was about 2%. It is why we, the Browns are perenial loser franchise.

I remember the time when Bob Kraft bought the Patriots in the mid 90's and he started making decision that was not in par with that franchise history.

Um the strength of the team? You mean all those player who we drafted and stayed healthy?

Gase didn't do anything on def and thank God or he would have made that last place too.

Nobody is hiring Lincoln Riley this year. His defense just gave up 50 points in a half to lsu.

But Darnold is “the one” despite a large sample size he is not because *cue a million excuses*.

McCarthy is still a dinosaur.  I don't think his speaking tour, letting people film him discussing analytics, his visit to PFF, etc. is fooling anyone.  Aaron Rodgers was being held back by him.  The Packers' results this year prove that.  Mike is wedded to his old school approach and playbook, and doesn't build relationships....even with the most important player on his team, the QB.  He doesn't need to talk to a QB....he just wants to tell him what plays to run.

not too sure what you mean about Rodgers being "held back"... Rodgers #'s all look Very Similar for his Entire career.... One difference is that This year was his 3rd Lowest QB rating in his career as a starter.
