highly unlikely we'd get this lucky with trades or be smart enough to make them... and highly unlikely some of these guys drop (especially devonta smith in first round)

1: R1 P1 QB Trevor Lawrence - Clemson
27: R1 P27 WR DeVonta Smith - Alabama - doubt he drops this far
41: R2 P9 C Creed Humphrey - Oklahoma
53: R2 P21 RB Najee Harris - Alabama - might drop this far (gotta grab him if he does
65: R3 P1 G Jackson Carman - Clemson - another guy - not sure if he drops this far, but possible - projected rounds 2-3
94: R3 P30 CB Tyson Campbell - Georgia
108: R4 P6 S Brady Breeze - Oregon
109: R4 P7 CB Deommodore Lenoir - Oregon - really like this gy
142: R5 P1 TE Matt Bushman - BYU
148: R5 P7 CB Keith Taylor - Washington - a bit of a project technique wise but ceiling very high
160: R5 P19 EDGE Patrick Jones II - Pittsburgh - doubtful he drops this far
180: R6 P1 LB Nate Landman - Colorado - really like this guy, super hard hitting LB, plays old school blue collar football
249: R7 P27 G Zion Johnson - Boston College

I've never actually done Mocks before the season has ended and I always become quite addicted to them. Anyway, after doing this way too many times, I consider a draft that does not land Creed Humphrey a failure. We desperately need a C and the gap between Humphrey and the next best C is great. I feel that JD will also seek a starting RT in the draft as well, which will make his O line rebuild near complete. At G my hope is that Cam Clark develops and Elflein returns to form with the Jets.

Unlike others, I only see JD selecting WR if someone falls to him and is too good a value to ignore because I feel next year's WRs will be a Free Agent, Mims, Crowder and Perriman mainly because they do not want their rookie QB throwing to another rookie and a second year player.

JD will be selecting the best players he can find where he is drafting because the Jets have so many holes in their lineup. Trade backs for more picks will happen. In this one, I was unable to get more picks but did swap 33 and 128 to get Philly's 38 and 70, giving us 7 picks in the top 100. Hopefully, a pre-draft Darnold trade will land us a late first or early second round pick as well.

3 other picks i really like

CB Deommodore Lenoir Oregon:

scouting report as of 11/18/20:

Oregon cornerback, Deommodore Lenoir was set to be apart of arguably the best cornerback duo in college football before teammate Thomas Graham opted out. Nonetheless, Lenoir is still a very talented cover corner in his own right. The first thing that stands out with Lenoir’s tape is how physical that he plays at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. He enjoys getting his hands on receiver’s in press coverage even if he has the tendency to get overly physical.

He shows the hip fluidity to flip his hips once engaged with receivers without losing his leverage on them. A good mover when lined up in off-coverage, displaying good short area quickness and burst when breaking on routes. Lenoir’s best trait may be his instincts to decipher what his eyes are seeing in front of him even if he doesn’t always trust it.

A physical brand of football that also extends into his run support, Lenoir is a guy who may have some positional versatility as well. Lenoir is another cornerback that this writer hopes to see perform at the Senior Bowl especially with the Pac-12 playing such an abbreviated schedule this year.

EDGE Patrick Jones II Pitt

https://nflmocks.com/2020/12/05/2021-nfl-draft-patrick-jones-scouting-report/

No way he falls this far... some sites have him going as early as round 2. We could dream tho right lol.

LB Nate Landman Colorado - I'm a huge fan of physicality. I prefer it over finesse, if they can have both cool... but I LOVE old school, hard nosed, blue collar, mean streak football.

https://www.nfldraftdiamonds.com/2020/06/nate-landman/

As per WalterFootball:

Nate Landman, ILB, Colorado
Height: 6-3. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Projected Round (2021): 4-6.
View Ranking History
11/21/20: Landman has 20 tackles and one tackle for a loss so far this season.

9/5/20: Landman had an excellent sophomore season in which he did a good job defending the run and produced a lot of big plays in pass defense. His production was down in 2019, but it can be hard for linebackers to duplicate huge stat lines. Landman needs to show pass-coverage skills with NFL speed and athleticism.

The "If JD has a ton of faith in Darnold trade back and get volume" draft. On PFN Mock Draft Simulator I converted the Jets 9 picks (6 in top 100) into 18 picks in the 2021 draft (9 in top 100) plus the Jags first and second round picks in 2022.  Perhaps Sam isn't the guy, but this really transforms the roster and gives the Jets 3 first round picks in 2022 in case Sam can not get it done. (This should not be interpreted as an endorsement of Sam Darnold's ability to QB an NFL team. It is merely intended as an example of the # of draft picks the Jets can get by trading down).

The "JD thinks Fields is as good a QB prospect as T-Law" trade back draft.  Fields with a revamped O line and a tough runner like Harris to make play action into a real weapon with TEs who can catch and not fumble the ball, and you revamp the D with a top CB prospect, Edge Rushers and ILBs. Perhaps that coupled with 3 first round pics and two second round picks in 2022 is a recipe for a championship team?

Heres the thing about the trade down.  Even if JD doesnt get a ridiculous haul (which I dont think he will moving from 1 to 2) but "only" gets Jacksonville's additional 1st and a 2021 2nd and 2022 2nd the players you can come away with in 2021 is staggering and then you wind up with 4 top 50 picks 2022.

He would REALLY need to believe in fields or another QB to do it as passing on Lawrence is a possible career ruining event. But it will be an interesting debate.

Truth be told, i cheated.

I forget which site it was but one of them had CIN offer me #3, #34 and next year's 1st rounder to move up from 3 to 1...to take Pennell.

I was then able to trade #3 and next year's CIN 1st back to JAX for #2.  So I got Lawrence and also got #34 for free.

That's why these sites are hot garbage if you do anything with trades.

I know this goes against the "crazy mock" theme, but if you're going to trade with the Jags, make it realistic.  I don't think they give up that much to move up one slot and cripple their chances at surrounding their new qb with talent.  They're better off staying put and surrounding Fields with those picks.

I think #2, #29, and next year's first is more realistic.

I disagree. It's about the player sitting there.  and a good comp is what the Skins gave up to move 4 spots for RG3. He was the 2nd best QB that year. Not even the first. That was Luck. The Rams received 3 1sts and a 2nd. Granted that was 2 more spots, but if that were Luck here would have been much more. Thats what we're looking at here.

IMO the PFN trade is pretty close, but I think it's actually on the light side. I think this could garner the most trade capital since the Herschell Walker trade.

Jets would not be trading the chance to draft Trevor Lawrence.

1- The guy has killer personality draw & looks for huge promotional benefits to the BUSINESS of the New York Jets & their owners. They are not taking the chance of being the team that trades away a generational QB with this kids pedigree, drive to succeed, and a winner at every level he's played with only 1 loss on his entire resume. Redneck Tarzan is a marketing miracle for beleaguered Jets who are at the Nadir of the franchises moribund history.

2- He's really f*cking good!!!

@Defense Wins Championshipsis that you?

Jackpot is right! Omg imagine the Jets trading back and landing Lawrence? I dont think there is any possible chance in hell the Jags trade up for Fields. If Fields absolutely destroys the predraft process and legitimately puts him in the conversation for #1 overall, I think the Jags (or Jets) sit tight and take whoever falls to them.

My first we are picking second and only had eyes for Trevor trade back draft.  Perhaps a new HC can get something out of Sam with Creed Humphrey at C, Mcgovern moved to G and Jaylen Mayfield at RT. Add Kyle Pitts as a split TE, and Charlie Kolar as on the line TE (with Herndon as #3 or traded) with Travis Ettiene in the backfield and maybe Sam will look competent. For the D, got a potential CB mate for Hall in Paulson Adebo and an ILB who can cover in Jabril Cox and took another flyer on an Edge guy in Tupuola-Fetui. Then added depth at O line, LB and in the secondary as well as taking the uber-dependable Tylan Wallace for WR depth.

I'd sign Rhamondre Dawson, Oklahama's 6 ' 246 lbs RB as an undrafted free agent to add beef to the backfield.

But wait .... That's not all. Also landed additional picks in the first, second and third rounds in 2022 giving the Jets 3 first round picks in 2022 and plenty of draft capital if they decide that their new QB is in the 2022 draft class.
