Don't get this stuff.  You can't dislocate your knee without some degree of ligament/tendon damage. I would have rathered  heard he had some cartilage damage.  Or yes, even an ACL injury which can be repaired and over time so what.

Dislocations of joints are BAD.  it's what Becton is/was dealing with. I this MCL/PCL damaged?

Maybe I'm wrong, and I hope so....but joint dislocations usually are associated with joint laxity and potential future injury.

Wonder which knee it was. He’ll be out for a bit but I believe the report that he’ll return this season. If he had a ligament tear it likely would have been reported since it would mean out for season.

looks like it dislocated and they reduced it at the stadium. So he’s dealing with a swollen knee, stretched but not ruptured ligament and all that comes with it which is weaker muscles around the area and more sensitivity to putting weight on it.

he’s at increased risk of it happening again but nothing you can do about that. Hope it wasn’t his left knee though bc that’s the one he has to push off of. That’s part of reason why Becton switched to right side.

sounds bad.  maybe worse than reported.  i remember when marvin jones dislocated his hip.  horrible injury and he was never the same after it.  same thing knocked bo jackson out of the game.  i'm not saying it's the same thing with the same issues and dangers but it's also nothing to be trifled with.  i hope they don't try to rush this guy back.

A dislocated hip is more serious but yeah I agree a dislocated knee isn’t nothing.  Obviously I’m hoping he will be back later in the season but don’t WS t to rush anything.  I know it was a small sample side but Mitchell showed us a lot in a tough situation

Well Mr. Mitchell, it was nice knowing you. See you next season.

It's  not the player, it's  the Jets Dr.

Look at how knee injuries  have worked out on the OL

Max Mitchell out several weeks as Jets’ tackle nightmare continues

By Brian Costello

October 4, 2022 | 1:47am

The Jets’ great tackle rotation will continue this week.

Rookie Max Mitchell suffered a knee injury Sunday that will cause him to miss several weeks. Jets coach Robert Saleh said the injury is not season-ending but injured reserve is a possibility.

Mitchell is just the latest tackle to go down with injury for the Jets and what the offensive line will look like this week is unclear. Alijah Vera-Tucker started at left tackle on Sunday against the Steelers for the first time in his career and Saleh gave him rave reviews. Duane Brown, who has been out with a shoulder injury, is eligible to come off IR this week, but Saleh said the team has not made the decision whether to activate him yet.

“We’re going to put the best five on the football field whoever that might be however we have to do it,” Saleh said. “I thought AVT was fantastic. It is not easy to move positions along the offensive line. I think he did a great job showing his versatility and his mindset.”

Saleh said Vera-Tucker has actually been working after practice for a few weeks on preparing to play tackle if needed. Saleh called it a “worst-case scenario” but that became a reality when George Fant went down last week, joining Brown and Mekhi Becton on IR.

Brown has been working on the side with trainers during practice for the past few weeks. Saleh said they would make a decision before Wednesday whether to activate him. Players have 21 days from when they start practicing to return to games.

“He’s been working his tail off to get himself ready to play,” Saleh said. “Hopefully, we get the opportunity to get him out onto the practice field to test it and see where he’s at.”

Saleh on the near trade for Tyreek Hill in March: “Happy for the young man, Tyreek. He wanted an opportunity to go back home and play football in Miami. You’re happy for the young man that he’s getting an opportunity to do that. Sure, we would have loved to have had him here, but I think things happen for a reason.”

Saleh spoke about all the weapons the Dolphins have.

“It’s like the 4×100 relay team,” he said. “We’re going to have our work cut out for us on defense. It’s a challenge we’re excited for.”

DE Vinny Curry is also eligible to come off IR this week after a hamstring injury in training camp landed him there. Saleh said they will make a decision on whether to activate Curry before Wednesday.

If you watch the play, right before the pass gets thrown and Carter almost gets killed, you can see Mitchell's leg in the top right side of the screen basically hyperextend all the way to the ground backwards.  It wasn't the worst thing I have ever seen watching football but it made my stomach grab when I noticed it on a replay.  I could see how the only injury would be to the kneecap being compressed when the leg bends in like that maybe, leaving the rest of the connective stuff alone.  Hoping for the best for sure.

Major difference was Mahomes was able to walk off the field where Mitchell was carted off...

Not really. It's something like every 20lbs is twice the force on the knee, so Mitchell would be like 32x the amount of strain on it trying to walk

I can’t even believe the tackle situation. Yeah some guys were older or injury prone(Becton) but to have everyone get injured at multiple levels before the 5th game of the season, is unheard of.

Its happened before with our QBs, WRs, RBs, CBs, and S, Jets have a history of getting decimated at one position any given year and burn through every body down to the 5th stringer. ?
