Good luck to anyone who wants Revis

Well if he is cut you only get him if you sign him to a new deal.  Can't hurt to try.

A 1st a 4th, you get Revis back for less money and he rehabbed a year on someone else's dime.  Worth trying to pull that off.

He is going to have to take a pay cut. Why not do it for a team you actually want to play for? This is one instance where I can't hold it against him.

Yep, he'll probably take a cut for the Pats!

Revis worked real hard for that ludicrous 16 mil salary..  he's not giving it up anytime soon.

and he's not settling for anything less than the highest paid CB in the league.  He's already said making money and losing is better than making less money and winning.  I don't think he gives a sh-t where he winds up provided they pay him more than anyone else will.

Hate this guy.

He gives it up the minute they cut him, which will by tomorrow morning. He's on his own after that. He takes what the market gives.

The jackass will wait until every FA CB signs and then hold out for the first team that offers him a dollar more than the highest paid corner in the league.

Of course there will be a siren call for a magical reunion between Darrelle Revis and the Jets now that the Bucs are looking to unload him and his $16 million albatross contract.

The Jets need a cornerback, and Revis — a year removed from knee surgery — is, at worst, one of the top three or four corners in the game. And the Jets, after whacking Antonio Cromartie and Santonio Holmes, have nearly $40 million in free-agent cash to spend.

Sometimes you can’t go home again.

And unless Revis, who never met a dollar he didn’t like, suddenly were to show up at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center knocking on Woody Johnson’s door, hat in hand, inside of which were an offer the owner could not refuse, the Jets would be better served to pursue a younger, cheaper option — Alterraun Verner or Vontae Davis — opposite Dee Milliner.

Revis, who will turn 29 in July, wasn’t worth $16 million a year ago when GM John Idzik traded him, and he isn’t worth $16 million now.

There was a time when Johnson (and Mike Tannenbaum) were keen on the idea of keeping Revis a Jet for Life, but that time came and passed when Johnson tired of the Revis camp’s persistent renegotiation wishes and exiled him away to Revis Island.

Those who cried that you don’t trade your best player missed the point. If you are going to pay a player $16 million, try to make sure it’s your quarterback.

If the Bucs cannot trade Revis, they will cut him, and he probably would relish playing again for Rex Ryan. The feeling would be mutual, if only because Ryan enters a Playoffs-or-Bust season after three straight years out of the playoffs.

But after a season in hell in Tampa, Revis just might be inclined to join Bill Belichick in New England, where he could chase that elusive first Super Bowl ring and shove it to Johnson and Idzik at the same time.

Idzik needs offensive playmakers and a backup or bridge quarterback, plus a safety and an offensive guard. Even with his abundant riches, the last thing he needs is a $16 million cornerback, or anything close.

He was always a great player, one of the greatest Jets of all time. But for the owner, he had become a great headache.

Unless Revis comes calling offering a hometown discount, the Jets should leave him on Revis Island. They can’t afford to corner the market on fiscal irresponsibility.

I don't blame any of these guys asking for money it's a bussiness . In my job I'd do the same and so would all of you ! That being said. Revis is going to become the sanders of his CB career go to places where they are close for 1 or 2 year deals

They need a tackle more than they need a CB, S or G.  More than a backup QB and probably even more than playmakers.  RT will cost more than S, G and most playmakers.

Refusing to take a pay cut for Tampa means nothing. Tampa has no leverage so why would he take a pay cut? May as well just let them cut him so he can choose where to play and have teams possibly drive up his contract price.

Just because he won't take less than $16m to stay in Tampa without testing FA doesn't mean he's going to be demanding $16m a year. Look I get the whole "Revis is greedy" thing but there is literally no reason for him to take a pay cut in Tampa unless he's fully dedicated to the organization, and why would he be after one year? They agreed to pay him $16m a year and got cold feet after one season.

Horrible, but we already have a plan in place.  Revis covers the #1 WR.  We don't have one.  Threat neutralized.

yeah unless he learns how to block FGs he will have no impact on the jets if he lands in NE
