Manish: Geno should go to Canada

I know a lot of us that this would be a possibility this off-season. I doubt it happens, but funny to see it written somewhere else.

Sorry, can't copy and paste the article right now.

If no one else bites then he might as well go, better to go somewhere and get valuable reps and a chance to develop and then maybe an NFL team gives him a look if he plays well up there. However that article was a complete character assassination on Mehta's part.

Geno should be able to get a gig as a back up.  I'd be surprised if he doesn't.  There are a lot of terrible backup qbs out there.  He'll have to sign cheap though.

The NFL minimum for an NFL player with 4-6 years experience is $770,000, the average salary of a CFL player is $80,000. It's fun to say Geno (or Tebow, or anyone else) should go to Canada to hone their skills, but it really doesn't make any sense financially if he can latch on as a backup somewhere.

Yeah, but he is worse than Kavis.

LOL, that is my team and Kavis was the coach, he was AWFUL.  He was a cross between herm and kotite.

Kavis is now the GM of the Montreal Allouhettes, poor suckers.

Yup it is a last resort. If you get to be a starting QB up here and you are good you make 450-500 k.  but you have to come up and light it up.  most players Qb or not come up as a last resort if they have no other options.

It's because they're all the same up there. With their beady little eyes and flapping heads.

Ha ha ha ha, never thought we'd have a bonafide Edmonton Eskimos fan on JN.

Geno should have better options than the CFL. He's right now going to be an NFL backup but with injuries the way they are he has a good chance to play. If he does well his career has been given a shot and he could be a starter sometime in the future. The bottom line is playing well and taking advantage of an opportunity. Which means adapting to the situation. You can make excuses for poor play for anyone but it's really up to him if he does hit the field.

Seems Jet Nation unbeknownst  to itself, has become a Manish super top secret "anonymous" source now

Implying JI and JN weren't always considered "anonymous sources" for the sh*tpile that is the NY Sports media?

Be assured, NY sports media read these sites and steal from them regularly (and without attribution).  NY Sports media is the very definition of fake news.

I don't know who is worse Manish or Costello.  Both suck as writers and hate the jets

Browns reportedly have interest in Geno Smith, potentially as a starter

The Browns haven’t identified their starting quarterback for 2017, but it could be someone who spent the last two years as a backup.

Geno Smith has drawn interest from the Browns and would be able to compete for the starting job in Cleveland, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Smith hasn’t started and finished a game since 2014, so he would seem more likely to be a backup in 2017. He has indicated that he’s willing to serve as a backup, and two teams that have shown interest in Smith as a backup are the Chargers and Giants.

But if Smith wants to start, Cleveland may be the only place where he’d get a chance. At the moment, the Browns’ quarterback depth chart consists of Cody KesslerKevin Hogan and Brock Osweiler, with Osweiler likely to be gone before the season starts and Hogan not seen as having a legitimate shot at winning the starting job. So Smith could compete with Kessler in camp, and potentially beat him out.

But Kessler showed some promise as a rookie last year, and there’s nothing forcing the Browns to cut Osweiler, even though they traded for him more because they wanted the draft pick that came with him than because they wanted Osweiler himself. A Kessler-Osweiler quarterback competition might be better than a Kessler-Smith quarterback competition.

It's weird all these teams have interest on a player who's been (according to a certain poster on JN) "black listed" in the NFL.
