Mike Pennel was the previous Foley.

Not to be a pain, but how did he do his rookie year?

I just don’t think it’s as easy as you are suggesting and I don’t want either of us to watch the D get gashed for 5+ yards per carry like last year.  We can agree on that..

I also want a big guy to collapse the pocket on passing downs.  Too many times the QB could have counted to 5 last year with no one near him.  Our D sucked for many reasons and stopping the run was right at the top.

Dude, sack exchange is a great guy like yourself. He’s super active, does tons of giveaways. I’ve spoken to him a bunch of times, he actually said he used to live in my neighborhood of Brooklyn for a short period of time ( Bergen beach ) that’s awesome.

Its hysterical he had Cimini, Bien Aime, Damien Woody, Tony Richardson, Will Parkinson, some guy from USA Today

Twitter sent him something saying he broke the record for a sports space or something. 3500 people.

I told him to ban anyone with the name tshane, t0m, @T0mShaneor any variation thereof

JFM is likely gonna be starting DT. With Rankins at DT3.. Im sure they will add run stopping specialist at some point . This isnt a premium position. Thats why good ones tend to last till later in the draft..

we also gotta see how marshall progresses going into year 2..

i dont think i ever remember someone trading as high as 4 to take a OL.

and this draft id deep with them. im sure you want a #1 for next year but why do it when they could stay where they are and take Green, Penning ,Zion...Cross.

Eye of the beholder, brother.

Teams trade multiple 1s for a veteran LT who needs a QB-sized extension (e.g. Houston/Tunsil). Some other may be willing to do the same for a LT without the mammoth contract, which costs the same picks but saves the 3rd veteran player/upgrade they can now afford at another position.

Maybe I’m older than you are, but without looking it up, one that sticks out involved the Jets trading out in another draft with no upper-level QB prospects: the Rams traded with us to get from #6 to #1 to draft Orlando Pace. Then he did it again, trading out of #6 when the last blue-chip prospect (and obvious pick) was Walter Jones. Of course I’d put a * on that one, because Parcells got the worst trade-down compensation of all time when he did it — ultimately I think we got a pair of 4ths and a 3rd to move down from #1 to #8 (for a future DPOY he benched after his rookie year, who wouldn’t start another game until Parcells stepped down). What can I tell ya; he (and Belichick, who was the only reason we added Testaverde) turned the franchise around, but Tuna wasn’t great at everything.

And whether or not another top 5-ish trade has occurred for that LT position specifically, it’s also kind of irrelevant. If a team has declined such a trade-down, and then they selected a LT prospect, then they de facto whatever lower draft picks offered to select a LT higher up. They made the same choice in declining as another team did in making the offer.

Wow, I don't remember THAT.

We arent in on robinson at all from what i hear jets like the receivers in the draft class

I wonder which one(s) JD likes.  For some reason my hunch is Garrett Wilson is going to be our pick should all the WRs still be available at #10.

Was going to post the same thing.  Wasn't he the "next Patriot steal"?

Jets picked Jachai Polite 9 picks earlier.  So we don't have much to crow about.  And the jets left these guys on the table before NE picked Winovich:  Darrell Henderson, David Montgomery and Terry McLaurin

I hope it Wilson.  People seem think JD loves Burks and London and to lesser degree Watson (not at 10). Idk if thats same post combine. Cause we been hearing about wilson alot more lately.

Patterson is nowhere near the same as deeboo samuel

@KRL isn't saying he's the same. Atlanta used him as a RB, WR, KR/PR and at Safety...  and while not the same high end production he was productive in that role around 10TDs

if the money isn't too high he isn't a bad option for a team that might want that type of guy. he's 31 but if it came down to it he would be better as an option for us than some of the wasted roster spots like Jeff or Vincent Smith.

Didn’t everyone here love Winovich on draft day?

/raises hand

I certainly did.

2021 was seemingly a very down year.  He had 5.5 sacks in both 2019 and 2020, mostly in a backup role, but almost nothing last year.

He'd likely still be an upgrade for us, lol.  But yeah, not quite the pro player I expected him to be.

Quote

Compared to Jachai Polite he’s Tom Brady

LOL!  Yeah, that too.

Polite:  11 games, 0 starts, 1.0 sack, 4 tackles, 1 QB hit.  Out of league after one year.

Winovich: 45 games, 9 starts, 11.0 sacks, 85 tackles, 23 QB hits.  Traded to Browns for his 4th season.

So aye, the Winovich folks weren't that far off in tha moment.

In hindsight tho, Terry MacLaurin, all the way at that Polite pick, lol.
