SALEH FIRED

It’s business Sonny.  Saleh treated it like a game.

That’s how most firings go.

“can I see you in my office?”

”we gotta let you go.  You’ll be escorted to the door.  We will fedex your belongings at your desk to you overnight.”

I, for one, think that’s great. Put everyone else on their toes.

Escorting him out is probably just a precaution to limit what info he takes with him.

If you fire a coach after the season, you don't need to worry about that.

When you fire a guy after week 5, just before you play a division opponent for first place, you do need to worry about what info is leaving the building with the guy you just fired.

Although in reality.  Jets playbook is on PDF on pop Warner.com.

This is for any employee at any business.  You don’t fire an employee at 10am and then let them work the rest of the day while they download privileged company data and delete job folders in spite. You get fired you get escorted to the door immediately after.

i don’t get the outrage here. Well done, i say.  Some actual semblance of a professional organization.

You had the Jets firing their HC in week 6 before a game for first place in the AFCE on your bingo card?

Sure................

of course i didn't.  i'm not one to advocate firing a head coach mid season.  i thought bobby would've been smart enough to make a surgical strike on his assitants.  he could've launched carter and elevated middleton.  i'm not sure if he could've launched hackett but he could've assigned the play calling duties to someone else.  things needed to get shaken up.  coming out slow and getting behind nearly every game just wasn't going to work.

Firing saleh was needed but so was the firing of Hackett.

Unfortunately this is all Rodgers lead and he loves  Hackett. The only justification for keeping Hackett (and it's still wrong) is if Davante likes him.

It's still early.

Assuming we get Davante, I'm willing to have him stick around to see if Hackett is the best coach for the offense.

That Keith Carter cuck needs to go though.

They were worried Saleh was going to steal a bunch of t-shirts on the way out the door.

It's strange, unless Saleh and Ulbrich don't get along.

Whatever I don't like about Saleh as a HC, I can't see him saying anything derogatory about those remaining, encouraging them to still fight hard, the season's still in their control, they're in good hands, etc. just because him saying anything else would make him look really small, and would reflect even poorer on him than the team's performance under his watch (and would further hurt his future employment opportunities).

Far more likely there was a heated argument, with Saleh (understandably) not thinking much of getting canned & letting words fly with all the reasons why it's not his fault, and then Woody had him escorted out. Truth is if the Jets fail for the rest of the season without Saleh, it'll make Saleh look not-as-bad, and if they have a big turnaround it'll be a bigger indictment on his job as HC.

Meh, who knows for sure what happened (and why he was then escorted out) except those two and anyone else who was in the room - we may get a story why, and I half-expect that'd be spin from either side - but what I'm imagining at least seems plausible.

The storylines coming out that Saleh was some kind of defensive savant and delivered on 'his end' are embarrassing. His defenses have been great (is it Saleh or Ulbrich?) and he could not have been more bashed for the last year and a half - a lot of people had him as a bottom 5 head coach. The flakiness of these cornball media outlets never cease to amaze me

Any of them defending Saleh are just mad one of their key sources for scoops within the org is gone.

That or they REALLY love a good speech about birds.

They weren't going to whack Saleh and then let his ghost wander around the building...

Do we think saleh wearing a Lebanon flag on his hoodie yesterday had anything to do with this? Why not fire him on Monday?

This is very surprising, either Woody really disliked Saleh or he was worried about something happening in the building.  Of course it could be as simple as he's never fired someone in season and had no idea of whether or not a protocol existed.

You can fit our offensive playbook in your back pocket so I hope they patted him down as well.

If the dismissal conversation was at all conciliatory - which I'm guessing it wasn't - they may have let him say some goodbye statement.

Truth is it's not like things used to be decades ago, and it's effortless for these guys to communicate via text/etc. without it being a big deal like a landline phone call would be.
