joewilly12
Randall Cobb seeks deal worth $9 million annually Though not as celebrated as Dez Bryant or Demaryius Thomas, Randall Cobb is one of the top wide receivers set to hit the market once free agency begins in early March. The Packers' wideout caught 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns last season and doesn't turn 25 until August. According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, Cobb and his agent are seeking a deal that would pay him around $9 million per year. What complicates things for Cobb is that he's almost exclusively an inside receiver. According to Pro Football Focus, nearly 90 percent of his offensive snaps since the start of 2012 came from the slot. Receivers like that generally don't earn nearly eight figures. Still, with the leverage afforded by the open market, Cobb might get his wish, whether it's with the Packers or another team.

CotcheryifyouCan
hmm i wonder if the pack are willing to poney up and give him what he wants. dez is def stayin in dallas and i seriously doubt d. thomas will leave denver. this just got a little more interesting
win4ever
He'll get around 7-8 million in the open market, because he only really has one true breakout year, has some injury concerns, plays in an explosive system, and is a pure slot guy. I would love to have him over Harvin though.

Dez and Thomas are getting tagged, Cobb is getting paid, and Maclin is already negotiating to stay in Philly. That leaves Crabtree, Torrey Smith, and Kenny Britt as the top FA WRs. Cut Harvin and we might be looking at Kerley back in the starting lineup in 2015.

operaguy
Seems to me like we shouldn't make a policy of paying WR1 money to talented WR2s every free agency. Decker FA rip-off Class of 2014, Cobb FA rip-off Class of 2015, T.Y. Hilton FA rip-off Class of 2016?
Miss Lonelyhearts
That's not a totally unreasonable initial ask. I'd rather pay Cobb than a cornerback, besides Revis.

I would love to have him over Harvin though. There is a good chance he gets 10 million because their will be a lot of teams bidding for the best Wr on the Market. ( zero chance D Thomas or Dez Bryant hit the market). Expect the Raiders to be the highest bidder for his services.

drdetroit
Stephen Hill. Can't teach speed. patman
I don't get the premise that an inside guy is less valuable than an outside guy. You pay for production. The pats offered Welker 3 years and 27 mill the year he got tagged. Cruz plays mainly in the slot and he got his. There are 15 teams with 25 mil of cap space, he will get his money. I would love to have him over Harvin though. but Harvin is not our slot guy. we have a slot guy. we will still need a good starting wideout. I will take Cobb if we are cutting Kerley AND Harvin----but we still need a legit wideout.
LAD_Brooklyn
If he were to come at $7 mil I would do it. That's a similar figure to Decker. However if someone overpays then we must turn to Harvin and base his contract on the deal Cobb gets (guranteed money aside).
