Fitzpatrick fans read this.

Anyone being objective would feel the same. Unfortunately objectivity is not big around here.

Applying your "objectivity" you would have to admit trent dilfer is a better qb than dan marino. "Best defense of all time" is just an excuse made up by unobjective marino lovers.

How bad is the bearded one? The Jets are Fitzpatrick’s fourth team in four years. If he stays healthy enough to start the Jets’ season opener Sept. 13 against the Browns, they will be the sixth team for which he starts. He has started 89 games in 10 seasons — he is 33-55-1 — and not one of his teams has ever made the playoffs. The good news is that means he should fit in just fine with the Jets.

I know he's horrible. Just not as horrible as Geno.

So your logic is because he beat out Sanchez and Vick but still played like a QB who needs to develop even if he's completely outplaying his backup he should be benched?

Lol, now that's the way any FO would go

He lost the qb battle to Sanchez badly, and the Vick competition wasn't a competition.

He does OK in practice, then sh*ts the bed when it matters.

Yeah, he was beaten out badly. Only a fool or a Sanchez fan boy actually believes Sanchez was ever going to start for the Jets again. You're right about Vick, Geno was far better. Proved it in the preseason and regular season. And he was doing even better this preseason. Stupid fans don't want to believe it, don't care about the best player being on the field. They want the scenario that proves their point. And for most it's Geno shouldn't play QB

Geno won't lose his job because of his lack of talent.  He will lose it because he is a complete idiot.

My point is anyone putting stock into Geno looking good in training camp or winning a "qb competition" is horribly naive. It's the same sh*t of Geno year 3, Geno looks good in traing camp, beats out the veteran proceeds to suck ass when he starts playing regular season games. Ever heard the definition of insanity, it's expecting things to change when doing the same thing over and over again. Geno sucks, his role in the league is a backup qb. He's not starter material, the fact that this team continues to waste time developing this moron blows my mind. He's garbage and is the reason why this team is one of the worst teams in the NFL. In case you didn't realize we went 4-12 with this moron blowing games with his stellar 3 picks on 7 passes or something like that.

wish sheldon was there Sept 13 :(

Yup. Having the rookie helps but the D won't be the same w/o him.

Any update on his situation? He's suspended the 4 games for weed. But any word on further suspension for innocently attempting to teach a 12 year old the dangers of speeding, how to shoot, and why running from cops is bad idea all while high? (Wish I had a mentor like that as a kid.)

The amazing thing is you're not allowed to evaluate pitchers based on wins but all of a sudden you can evaluate qb's based on wins even though football is more of a team sport.

If they want to use wins and losses to evaluate a QB then they should go ahead and tell us how much teams improved after Fitz left.

Let's see. The Bills, Titans, and this year we can see how well the Texans do without him.

Seriously are people seriously bashing Fitz for having a losing record with these teams?

The Bills and Titans had horrific rosters when Fitz played there. Texans had a good roster but he got injured otherwise he wins more than 6 games with them last season.

Mark Sanchez career record:  37-33, 4-2 in the playoffs (all on the road).  Why can't we get a QB with a record like that?

Did you ever watch football? Do you understand what they're trying to do? Two training camps and from your mothers basement you know a player, any player won't develop. Good for you. Send your resume to all 32 teams.

Just don't tell people that the guy who can't beat out a shltty QB, the so called worst QB in the league, DUH, should start. Why? Because he can't beat out a QB who sucks. Makes sense

again with the geno won 8 games bit? lol. geno was more of a factor in losing 8 games that year than he was in winning 8.

the team was able to win 8 games w/ him., no team has been able to win 98 games w/ Fitz and Fitz has played on more talented teams than the 2013 Jets.

Wow, just no way. There seemed to be a lot of pressure from the GM's office to start Geno, but on the field, he was getting seriously outplayed. If Sanchez hadn't gotten hurt, he would've been the coaches' choice to start opening day. And that would've been the best possible scenario for Geno, too, who clearly was not ready. Idzik making a unilateral decision contrary to what was playing out on the field would not constitute Sanchez being beaten out badly. Sanchez lost his job to injury. Only at that point had he started his last game for the Jets.

Circumstances have pulled the Geno plug.

this statement makes it seem like Geno had nothing to do with it. "Circumstances" like owing people money and taunting them about it? it's the same immaturity that caused him to fall to rd2 three years ago. He doesn't have to be perfect as a QB but he should be getting better as a person. That isn't happening.

Biggest disgrace of the Rex/Idzik Error was that a guy who knows zilch about personnel evaluation having a lick of input on who is in the starting lineup.

Man. Geno could whiz on your leg and you might make comments about humidity.

Coaching and front office gave every chance in the world for Geno to start (his "upside" at that point far eclipsed Sanchez's known quantity, some foreshadowing there) but he was godawful and Rex reluctantly had to name Sanchez, who didn't shine much brighter, the starter.

Simms, I think, showed a flash or two that made more some interesting messageboard grist, but we were f'd at quarterback.  The hope was Geno would improve after a few starts. The hope for Geno has evolved into some hope he improves after a few more seasons.  As starting QB. God help us all.

People here evaluate players based on whatever criteria fits their agenda - myself included.

Matt cassel won 10 games twice. He obviously blows geno and fitz away. We ****ed up not getting him. Or....maybe you don't evaluate football players by how many wins the team had

Considering this classic one occurred back when the number of neg reps were limited, -12 was very impressive:

More like Just In Fudge.

I wish we had a list of most-repped and neg-repped posts of all-time.  Those were watershed moments in JN history.  Like Shane's trolling of teh Falcon with Quinn's monologue from Jaws.  Or the guy who bragged about playing Single-A baseball.
