KRL
It will be interesting to see what the guaranteed portion of the deal is because some of these contracts can be pure fluff. As far as Taylor is concerned I don't care what numbers he put up last year, he's proven nothing!!! This sounds like a typical Ryan move where he's reaching to annoint someone as a "franchise QB" (Sanchez) based on little evidence. Is it wise to commit big $$$ to someone with this little history? http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14163/tyrod-taylor Don't judge QB's on "fantasy football" stats

Integrity28
44 minutes ago, Jetsfan80 said: Look, there's no denying whatsover that Tyrod Taylor had an awesome year. 20:6 TD:INT, 8.0 yards per attempt, completed 63.7 % of his throws, 16th in DVOA and 8th in DYAR. And he's only 27. On the heels of that there's no surprise on this. But Tyrod fans will have to face pure physics on this one. The guy is 6-0, 220 lbs. And he ran the rock 104 times last season, 44 more times than Fitzpatrick, 30 more times than Russell Wilson, and 51 times more than Cam Newton (who, unlike Taylor, is built like a linebacker). Odds are, if he continues running like that, eventually he's going to get hurt. And that $15M per will look like a questionable decision. There's also no guarantee he can repeat what he did last year as a thrower. The league now has a year of tape on him. The Redskins didn't hand Kirk Cousins a monster deal on the heels of his 1 solid season; they want to see more before putting up such a large financial risk. Meanwhile, Rex is not exactly a Jay Gruden when it comes to working with QB's (understatement of the century), and if Greg Roman ever parlays his success into a HC job.....they're screwed. Why would anyone here be a Tyord fan? Half these people don't even like the Jets QB, but they're fans of Tyrod? Taylor had some good situational stats last year, look it up. Either way, he's got the worst HC in the league as it pertains to taking care of the QB. Ultimately, it's the Bills, **** them.

CaliforniaJet
Taylor is a very good player, but why extend him now? Wouldn't it make sense to see him start for a second year before forking over that much cash? I guess the Bills expect him to blow up the league this year. Obrien2Toon
That makes 2 teams in division tied up in contracts with mediocre qbs. The time is now and the next 5 years for us.

Beerfish
Very very happy about this. Once teams hold his running in check to some extent he's screwed. And this once again enforces why fitzpatrick was holding out and why the jets front office played it to perfection.

rex-n-effect
Taylor had a good year and he's a good fit for Rex. However, IMO the contract is too much money for a guy with so little experience as a starter. I could read the contract as one of two things: 1. The GM and Rex are not really on the hot seat and they locked in a QB that fits with Rex's ground and pound offensive preference; or 2. They are on the hot seat and the GM tried to make a big signing to justify his continued employment by showing he has a plan for the future (to build around this QB). KRL
Jet fans need to stop judging QB's against some of the slop we've seen in years past particularly from 2011-2014 (Sanchez & Smith). QB's are judged over time not after one year. Look at Nick Foles, a couple of years ago he went 27 TD & 2 INT. Was he a "franchise QB" worthy of a huge deal??? On top of that I would be petrified to allow Ryan to influence the decision on who to give big $$$ at the QB position. He's clueless about the offensive side of his team

choon328
It's a 5 yr extension worth $92 million that can go up to $115 million with incentives. $18.2 million/year. It's not a 6 year deal worth $90 million. Thats how the Jills want to phrase it. His base this year is $1 million and they're including that in the deal for optics to make it look like they're only paying him $15 million. But those numbers I wore above are what his agent tweeted out. Thats the real deal. Not so team friendly anymore.
bostonmajet
Everyone was like 'macc get it done'; This is what happens all the time in this league (like the Sanchez deal) - if he doesn't pan out, this is going to sting.

Mecca
Unless Tyrod plays at an elite level or the Bills make the playoffs, TT will likely be released considering he'd make 27 million in 2017. If I'm the Jets, I'd love to bring Tyrod in as our stop gap QB in 2017. Let him start a year or two before Hack is ready. Tyrod with our defense would be deadly considering how safe he is with the ball and how he likes to make splash plays deep.

KRL
This is a deal which gets Taylor a nice $$$ boost this year but gets him cut before next year. Because only a dumb team would pay him $27.5 million.
