Pats Edelman out for our next weeks game, possibly affecting the Jets tankathon

Pats Edelman out for our next weeks game, possibly affecting the Jets tankathon, but lets hope they have enough to pull it out. BB can always dial up the cover 0 Blitz that should make Darnold be forced into multiple mistakes. I hate feeling this way and in any season have always wanted wins to change the attitude going forward. But, no matter what occurs with QBs at the top of the 2021 draft, having the 1st overall pick helps the Jets rebuild better/quicker as opposed to falling down to 3-6th position. We can always trade down from number 1 if we can't get the QB we want(in case Lawrence or Fields play hardball by not decalring or not wanting to play for Jets) and will get a good ransom of picks/players to do so.

So, now all the QBs are going to shy away from the Jets because of what is happening this year? That's just ridiculous. If these players don't know that they will be drafted by teams that were in the tank (especially the top rated guys), I don't know what to tell them. It's way more enticing to be here than Cincinnati and even Houston. Houston is strapped for cash with very few high picks and an aging roster. The Cincinnati team Burrows went to this year would not be as enticing as the Jets. Why? We have 13 picks in the top 3 rounds the next 3 years, including 2 in round 1 and maybe the top pick in round 2. Also, we have the cash to spend and, very importantly, a new coach. Add to that the top pick on a rookie contract and low expectations in year one, it's a no brainer. Also, if you succeed you'll be the king of NYC, something we haven't seen since Namath. That translates into a crazy amount of endorsement money. Not to mention a left tackle to anchor the line for years to come. It's hard to look better than the Jets will look next year relative to other teams picking #1. We're set up for this. It's plain lazy to look at the current Jets and ignore our assets moving forward.

The Pats shut us out last year on MNF. Darnold threw 4 picks and was "seeing ghosts" in the worst performance of his career.

If you think that this 0-8 Jets team is beating Bill Belichick in 11 days you're smoking crack.

Especially considering everyone knows we really really don't want to.

Edelman is small, old, and inconsequential. No one can stop this gutter train. We have the personnel (read: nobody with talent) to run this train on autopilot right into the ground.

He’s still an effective slot receiver and led the pats receivers in all categories

Belichick is full on tanking for trevor.

Pats are awful. This is an utterly winnable game. The inhumanity and bitter irony of it all, finally the Pats suck after 20 years and because of that they manage to screw us for another decade.

Watch us split with the pats, go 1-15 and miss out on both Lawrence and Fields

How?

For us to go 1-15 and be picking third (hence missing out on Lawrence and Fields), we would need a minimum of three teams in the NFL to go 1-15.

Since 1980, only 12 teams have been 1-15 or worse (ten 1-15 teams and two 0-16 teams).

Giants, Texans, Vikings, Falcons  and Jags are all 1-6 and stink.  It’s likely 2 out of those 5 teams lose out

Actually, it isn't likely . . . at all.

For starters, the Texans and Jags play each other again. So one of those teams are automatically out.

Then, you have to remember that the Giants still have three more games with Washington, Dallas, and Philly, who all suck.

Again, there have been 12 teams in the last 40 years that have finished 1-15 or worse. Over that timeframe, there have never been two 1-15 teams in the same season.

I totally get the inclination to imagine the worst case scenario because we are Jets fans, but this one is pretty silly.

Since you edited in the Vikings and Falcons, let's look at them:

The Vikings also play the Jags. So again, one of them is out. The Vikings also play the Lions two more times. (If you notice, one reason that multiple teams never go 1-15 in the same season is because, in a 32 team league, these teams tend to play each other)

The Falcons still play the Panthers and Broncos at home and have been competitive with everyone and blown games in unbelievable ways.

All you need is 2 other teams to go 1-15 and one fluke win over the tanking pats who may be starting Jarrett Stidham by the time we play them.  Jets have 2nd or 3rd toughest strength of schedule so we lose almost all tie breakers

nothing you say makes that scenario impossible or even unlikely
