I hate to admit just few years ago, I could not understand why we didn’t see Hackenburg start a game. We soon learned the coach’s knew he was just not that good.

Do you think the same is true with Morgan??

I sure as heck hope not, that was a valuable pick.

Bozo Joe playing chess while all the other GMs are playing tiddly winks.

Morgan needs to play if Sam misses anymore time.   Why waste a 4th round pick on the guy if you’re never going to let him play?

And it’s not like he’s being thrown directly into the fire like so many rookies.

The kid has had literally half a season to sit and watch.

Maybe he shows enough where you feel comfortable with him as your #2 behind Lawrence/Fields for the foreseeable future and you don’t have to waste $5+ million a year on bringing in a vet.

Exactly.   There’s literally zero pressure on him to play well.  If he doesn’t play now, when do you play him?   Playing Flacco serves no purpose, none.

They probably don't want to ruin Morgan's confidence.  Prob Joe D thought he needed a "red shirt year" and would only use him as an emergency QB.

Why does he need a “redshirt” year?   He was drafted in the 4th round, he isn’t some UDFA.  He’s the same age as Sam.  Why piss away a 4th round pick on the guy?

I never get this either.  The NFL is no longer a place where a rookie QB sits and watches the veteran for two or three years.  Right now, teams start rookies.  The way Darnold is playing--and the fact that we're 0-8--is the perfect time to try Morgan out.

What's the fear, that he'll lose a game?   Throw less than 4.65 yards per attempt?  lol  And if a kid is that sensitive that he is ruined by actually competing, then you've picked the wrong guy.

I'm just speculating but maybe they think he needed a year studying how NFL offenses work.  Maybe he has good raw tools but played in a simplified offense in college?

Maybe they think Morgan might be pretty good and therefore they don't want him to get onto the field and:

  • lower Darnold's trade value even further by visibly outplaying him
  • win a few games that takes us out of the #1 pick

Flacco will do for these purposes. But tell him if he throws a touchdown he'll get benched and then they'll have one of our team's mad doctors remove a bolt from his neck.

If they think he is pretty good then why would they still care as much about the #1 pick?

Fully agreed.  If the Jaguars can bypass Mike Glennon and throw 6th round rookie Jake Luton under center this week, then the Jets can send Morgan out there.

Granted, Luton is facing 1-win Houston and the Jets are going up against NE (Belichick owns rookie QB's, historically) in a nationally televised game.  But whatever.

Well he isn't learning that here, lol.

Maybe we should loan him out to Kansas City for a few weeks if that's the goal.

Just IR the ******* guy. Jesus.

Wasted a damn 4th rounder on a  QB. Throw him out there and see what hes got.

Some guy named Rocco DiNucci or something started for the damned Cowboys in a Prime Time road game, but Coward Gase will still go out of his way to keep ruining the kids value, just to have him hand off to Gore 30 times in between screens to Berrios.

Can't make this sh*t up....

DiNucci started in an offense where every position except for LT is vastly superior to what the Jets are trotting out there. Exactly how would starting Morgan  be good for anyone? It would be extremely difficult to evaluate anyone among this dreck and it would be likely that he would get hurt behind this swiss cheese line.

There are too many positions on this team that need to be upgraded for them to worry about a QB. At least 3 OL, 2 WR, a RB and a TE need to be upgraded. Until they get the OL squared away and get 1 more target to pair with Mims, putting any hope in a QB, drafted or not, is foolish, IMHO.

I don't root for injuries but it happened at a good time if we're pushing for the #1 overall pick.  The Pats (in NY) and Chargers are the next 2 games.  Those are 2 of the more winnable games remaining on our schedule.  Not going to happen with Flacco though.

We don’t stand a chance against chargers

Pats I’m worried about

Jets need to see what Morgan is now.  If Morgan shows he’s capable on any level then he’s Trevor Lawrence’s backup next year after we trade Sam for picks
