Braxton Berrios receiving 25.7% of targets through first two weeks

You see this a lot with young QBs. They throw it to the guy they have a connection with. Berrios was an ever-present in pre-season while other receivers missed time.

Wilson has learned to trust Berrios, which might explain why he targets him over other options. It will become less of an issue over time as he gets more comfortable with other targets.

Young QBs tend to like throwing to tight ends, the throws are often easier and shorter.   Since the Jets don't have a tight end, he throws to the slot.

It didn't hurt the Pats throwing to Wes Welker 160-170 times a year.

It's not a problem because nobody is "running the offense through Berrios".

The problem is INTs. Keep the focus on where the problem actually is instead of inventing one where there isn't one.

That's not entirely true, there was a 4th and 1 play ran specifically for Berrios. He couldn't get open on the route and he's not big enough to box the guy out on that type of route. So they are definitely running plays for Berrios.

They are running plays for who is playing, yes. He's not Charles Oakley. He's a skill position player. So, yeah they run plays for the position he plays.

Or they feel he's their best option. And. of course, you, having had all this NFL OC experience know differently.

The Berrios hate amongst the fanbase is weird.

Guy is small, but he gets open and catches the ball. The coaches and QBs have faith in him, that's why he's in there.

As a return man and depth piece at WR, he's doing a solid job.

Agree.

He's the kind of guy you'd have on your fantasy team if he played in the slot for a good offense. Very solid ST player/backup slot.

also people seem to think because he's getting that level of looks its the coaches focusing the whole offense around him.  He's probably the 3rd read on plays but zach goes to him because he's had success.

More often than not its the QB not the OC

yep.  i don't think lafleur draws up teh offense to run through berrios.  and lets not forget that a couple of those receptions were fourth down prayers.  the thing about berrios is that he plays hard every down and also does a respectable job on specials.  maybe mims ought to return kick or punts.  he's faster than berrios.

No need to be a douchebag. But I guess all your NFL OC experience proves your point right

One thing #Jets offensive staff has to do and stop being stubborn about locking in their top WRs (Davis/Moore) to *only* being outside WRs. You need to move around your top guys between X, Z and slot and both are more than capable of it, especially if you are slot target heavy

Berrios is already just as good as Crowder, younger and faster.

The problem isn't hte WRs; it's the decision making...and it will be fine soon.

This.

Berrios has been a positive contributor for a franchise that can’t find many.

The OL needs to get right and Zach needs to not bust.

Out of curiosity, taking a quick look, Davis, Moore, and Kroft all came out ahead of Berrios in offensive snap counts in each of the 2 games.  His offensive snaps come in closest to those of Griffin

Wow.  I havent looked at this but I was surprised by this post.  Moore leads the WR's in snaps over Corey Davis, only by 2 snaps but still.  He also has the same amount of targets.  That's incredibly unproductive and begs that question, is he being misused?  It's shocking to me he's not playing Berrios role in this offense and Cole only played 16 snaps - 0 catches, Smith 22 snaps 3 targets, 1 catch.

Crowder and Mims scratched and this is what you're getting out of the guys playing ahead of them?

So confusing.  I know Zach has been terrible and impacts the output but still It's just screams misuse.

Teams will shut down davis like bellicheat and force Wilson to throw to undersized WRs all season thanks to the geniuses that run the jets

if you double Davis all day the rest of the DBs have to go man to man.  A good qb exploits that.  Mahomes the other night had Hill doubled so he started throwing deep to scrubs like Pringle and Hardman

Something KC does a lot of is go 5 wide.  If Lefleur was worth anything he would try to go 5 wide once in a while.  I think that would actually play to Zach’s strengths.  That’s part of how a crap qb like Fitz was able to have a statistically good season here

We aren’t that bad at WR actually.  Besides Mims not playing because this current coaching staff has sh tlisted him.  Davis is a good player.  Berrios is a decent slot receiver.  So is Crowder

On paper they all good its what they do on the field is what I judge them by.
