People are underestimating the importance of Schotty making the play calls. he loves calling plays that start behind the line of scrimmage and if you remember the horseface's college resume that is what he excelled at. I don't know if that's true but, when they were both with the Jets, Schotty often seemed more like the HC than Rex Ryan did. Rex was the bombastic and overly-excitable showman, concerned with his D and little else, while Schottenheimer seemed like the calm and rational one who could see the bigger picture.
