Lol, different scenario. Tannehill is being asked about someone who was drafted to take his rather lucrative job. I thought that answer was pretty fair. He’s my teammate, if he learns something from me, great! If there’s a little elbow in there, good! How do you want your incumbent starter to react? I thought he was pretty tactful given the situation. He can’t give off the vibe that he’s handing his job over there. 13

Regardless, why be prickly about it? It doesn't sound team-oriented. 2

Maynard13
Talk about a hyper defensive personality. Titans go 2-6 in first half and Malik will be like ‘Im more than happy to be awarded the starting Qb role and will be a team player. Tanny, I’m at your disposal while you’re sitting there on the bench’.

Sure, but there's a reason for those cliche's. Give the cliche'd answer and then go about business the way you want. He chose to be honest, but now he has to deal with this nonsense. 5
section314
If Willis was watching the Bengals game, he might ask Vrabel to keep Tannehill as far away as possible.

It’s his job to help the kid out. Malik will be on the team. The Team is comprised of 53 players. Probably 2 back up QB’s which Malik will be one. Injuries are part of the game. So Tanny should be more diplomatic and team oriented here. Probably feels threatened by the kid already. 5
RoadFan
“Mentoring” is another grossly overused term. Outdone only by “weaponz.” ”There’s no doubt about it” pisses me off too! 2 2 1

Bungaman
His job is whatever the coaching staff, the GM and the owner says it is. That being said, he could have been diplomatic and given the cliche answer, and then done basically what he wants to do anyway to keep his job safe.
RoadFan
Tannehill is a good QB. He took a beating after a lousy playoff performance and was in a “dark place.” I can sympathize with that…

Flacco has not said one word since he came here, he loses football games and cashes cheques. He has also shown 0.0% mentor-ship outwardly so far. 4 1
Hex
Tannehill probably feels like Rodgers did when they drafted Love. Nobody told Tannehill they were drafting a QB, nor the Brown trade. He’s probably pissed at the lack of communication, and doesn’t see why he should mentor his replacement.

Bocajetfan
Can understand his reaction, years ago I was up for a promotion. Did not get the promotion. Was asked by members of upper management to take this person and teach them the ropes. My response was if I was not qualified for the position how am I qualified to mentor that person? 1
