Interesting. I had heard Ben McAdoo had the inside track. Downing adds to the QB speculation considering his work with Carr and Tannehill

McAdoo would have been a good hire, but Downing has a nice track record with QBs too. This is a solid hire.

Who would you want?

Bill walsh, Sid Luckman & Ernie Zampese aren't available

Detroit Lions

In 2009, Downing went to the Detroit Lions with Scott Linehan as an offensive quality control coach. He was the assistant quarterback coach in 2010 and was promoted to the quarterbacks coach role from 2011–2013. While he was coaching quarterbacks in Detroit, Matthew Stafford averaged 4,885 yards, thirty touchdowns, and seventeen interceptions from 2011–2013.

Buffalo Bills

In 2014, Downing was the Buffalo Bills' quarterback coach.

Oakland Raiders

In 2015, Downing was hired by the Oakland Raiders as their quarterbacks coach under head coach Jack Del Rio. He is credited for helping Derek Carr become the first Raiders quarterback to be selected to a Pro Bowl since 2002. On January 20, 2015, Downing was named by Pro Football Focus as Quarterbacks Coach of the Year. After coaching Raiders quarterbacks for two years, he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2017, after the Raiders decided not to renew Bill Musgrave's contract. When he coached Carr from 2015–2016, he threw for 7,924 yards, sixty touchdowns, and nineteen interceptions with two Pro Bowl appearances.

Downing was fired on January 1, 2018, along with head coach Jack Del Rio and the rest of Del Rio's staff after dropping from 12–4 to 6–10 due to a major regression of the offense.

Pretty sure the Titans Oline sucked and their passing offense was among the worst in the league last year. I don’t get this one or the Oline coach

you base everything on one year?

Look at Tannehill stats last two seasons under Downing..And remember their OL was devasted by injuries and no AB Brown

Saleh adding experience to his offensive staff is not a bad thing. Just should have been done right when he was hired.

Hard to get good coordinators and assistants in your rookie season as a HC most are working on good teams. I see him trying to get the most experienced guys now, if Zach can be salvaged this crew can do it.

If Tennesse doesn’t release Tannehill, what do you think the compensation would be? 3-4 th rounder?

If Tannehill refuses to renegotiate deal, no way it will be tough to keep him & sign draft picks.

Lewan expects to be cut. Only a few other places to save. There is no other Qb on their roster who can keep the team competitive.

I say they keep him.

I have seen/ heard speculation in more than a few spots that they may be in play for Carr, Rodgers and Jimmy G. Good coach, organization. Great city. No state income tax. Who knows?

Though tbf, it's easy to be a great "passing game coordinator" when your QB is Mahomes/Burrow/etc

When I think of advanced passing attacks, the team that runs the ball most in the NFL comes to mind immediately!

LOL... wTF.. Titans fans begged for this guy to be fired all year.

WTF.. ho.... leeeee... .sh!t... why.

I didn't want Corey Davis, we got him. I want nothing to do with any offensive play not named Henry and don't even want him anymore (foot). DOn't want Tannehill or this joker.

I swear if we get Tannechoke as our "veteran" qb.. you can forget about winning anything meaningful. sure we could make the playoffs but that will be it.

I had no issue signing Titans line coach but this .... lol
