You need to pick a player at 15 that will help Aaron Rodgers immediately.  We have 5 starting oline in Brown, Tomlinson, McGovern, AVT, Becton.  So taking oline at 15, you are taking a player that will not be on the field unless of an injury.

So the pick needs to be JSN.  He steps in as an immediate starter in the slot.  You might have to trade up to get him.  If that is the case, do it Joe!!!!!!!!!

Get JSN at any cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If jsn falls and the top OTs are gone fine but you say “unless an an injury” but and injury is almost certain plus becton is who knows.

Oline is the safe solid pick

I agree. Are you putting Wright in that group of OTs is the question

For me if Johnson, Sko or Jones are there they have to be the pick over JSN. But I'd take JSN over Wright.

i'm hoping for either JSN (as a michigan alum, this would be painful after GW last year) or skoronski (love the positional versatility to start before he ultimately settles into whatever position he will play)

first preference though would be to trade down and recoup some picks

the wolverine in me would like to get mazi smith in the 2nd and olu oluwatimi in the 4th or 5th (less likely if it's skoronski in the 1st)

Most of the years in the Douglas era we pretty much knew the positions we were locked into in Round 1 (2020 - OT/WR, we wind up with Becton and Mims, 2021 - QB/OL, we wind up with Wilson and AVT, 2022 - with multiple picks most thought WR/EDGE, and we wind up with Sauce, Wilson, and Johnson).

I just have a feeling Douglas is going to throw us a curveball this year.  Everyone has been harping on OL (T and C) or WR this year.  I would not be surprised by Brian Branch, Dalton Kincaid, or any falling DL (Kancey, Smith, Murphy, etc.). My dream is that Jalen Carter keeps falling and we make a minor trade up to get him.  Him next to Q would be fun to watch

I want the WR. Give me JSN. Let’s load Rodgers up with weapons. Would also put them in position to pivot and trade Davis for -hopefully- a third or fourth rounder this year.

Better WR group, more cap room, and another player in the top 130 or so.

We really don't have much depth at WR.  We basically have GW and mostly JAGs.  If there was an injury we'd be in real trouble.  That's why I certainly wouldn't mind if we took JSN (should he be available).  We obviously also need OL but I guess JD is going to have to make his decision.

I definitely wouldn't mind Mayer or Kincaid.  That would give AR8 another weapon plus would be playing to the strength of this draft.  However, I don't see how we do that considering we already have 3 TEs.

I believe Fant is still out there, and he’s not the only OT still available. They have other picks besides the first rounder that Jet fans seem to always want to spend on big fat guys. With Rodgers, all you need on the OL is good enough. Give him weapons, and he’ll take advantage.

Yeah that would have been true for a young, mobile Rodgers, but he's not nearly as mobile as he once was and he needs a lot more protection than we offered Zach.  You are getting some big fat guys in these 5 picks on both sides of the ball.  Probably early on.  Pick your order: OT, DT, C, LB, S.

More protection than they offered Zach?  That kid held the ball forever.  You think Rodgers isn't going to be able to fire the ball off?  He is not as young as he was, but he isn't a statue like Brady either.

I’m thinking his release more than his mobility. That wouldn’t be my happy draft.

Peter schrager just posted a mock.

Pick 13 Green Bay Packers (from NYJ)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Ohio State · WR · Junior

JSN was as good as -- if not better than -- Ohio State teammates Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave in 2021. The Packers didn't draft a single pass catcher in the first round during Aaron Rodgers' entire tenure in Green Bay. Just days after his departure, they pull the trigger.

Pick 14 New England Patriots

Zay Flowers

Boston College · WR · Senior

A gamebreaker who can play inside, outside and contribute on special teams. The Patriots need points, points, points. Zay helps.

Pick 15 New York Jets (from GB)

Lukas Van Ness

Iowa · Edge · Sophomore (RS)

I believe the Jets would love for one of the top offensive linemen to fall to them. And that could come to fruition tonight. I don't see Darnell Wright as a fit for New York. So, with Paris Johnson Jr., Peter Skoronski and Broderick Jones off the board here, Joe Douglas takes another pass rusher in Van Ness.

basically worst case scenario.  Edge rusher. I mean normally I’m jumping up and down but it would feel disappointing this year.

He's not as mobile as he was. The Jets OL has been dogsh*t to every one of it's QBs, not just Wilson. Hey, I think JD is drafting the fat guys early. Enough is enough.  My take. Could be wrong.

Maybe JD will get a weapon for him.  I see OL and defense if all we have is the 5 picks. Maybe we'll see some pretty cool trade backs with value.  Who knows?  I was shocked last year with the weaponz TBH.

I wanted them, but didn’t expect them. They turned out great, though, despite crappy QB play. Imagine how great it might work out with Rodgers behind center?

I would rather have the #1 WR this year than the third or fourth OT, and it’s not even close in terms of potential impact.

If one of their top rated OLs not on the board at 15 I’d like to see a trade down into the early 20s and select Mayer if still there. The league knows the Jets aren’t going to draft a QB this year and if a QB like Hooker there at 15 there could be a play for the pick and Jets could add an extra pick to replenish some of what they lost in Rodgers deal. Also hope JD looks to see if a market to trade Zach.

The #1 WR (JSN I'm guessing) will not likely be there. I'd rather have the #2,3 or 4 OT than the #2 or 3 WR.  You really going to get more out of the #2 or #3 WR (like Flowers) than you would from Corey Davis?  No.  Basically, you are not adding all that much for Rodgers.  Cause any new WR pick pretty much means a cut for Davis and his big salary.  For 2023, drafting such a WR would be good for the cap but not that much improvement for Rodgers.  If that's the case, then give me Darnell Washington or Kincaid.  Now *that* would be giving Rodgers a significant improvement out there.  Moreso than a Corey Davis replacement.

It is draft day, let's go Joe Douglas!

Hopefully the Jets get off to a better start than I did. Was doing a little server cleanup and that is why the forums have been down for a bit.  All good now, let's go Jets!

The more I think about it the more relieved I am that this Rodgers thing got done before the Draft.  I had a suspicion it would be a Draft night trade once the Jets were on the clock and saw who was available to them at #13.  But now that AR is on the roster there are fewer distractions, we know exactly what spots the Jets are in, and they can move forward with fewer variables.

I won't predict a name but I feel like I can almost guarantee the Jets trade back with at least one of their first two picks at 15 and 43.  Just can't imagine them staying in both of those spots and taking players.

It's the one year anniversary of our Vegas Draft trip.  Let's hope luck strikes again this year!
