jetspenguin
Sorry Morton's offense wasnt as great as everyone made it out to be. McClown had a career year and it looked better than it was. When McClown had a bad game it showed what he was really running, when Petty got in there it showed what he was really running. I could have lived with another year to give him a chance to improve but let's not make him some guru based on what we saw this year. If you are going to have a young gun coming on board, maybe you dont want him in a mess of an offense right from the begining. Maybe the offense was very rigid and it wont fit Mayfield's skill set. We're seeing the 2nd bad HC in a row being allowed to dump his who staff, hand-pick new guys, dump them and then get a "reset" for himself in the form of an extension. It's Rex's last 3 years all over again. It's a terrible look for us, and even worse for the evolution of this football program. I've said it before, you come coach for the Jets and on day 1 it becomes an exercise in avoiding being fired and maximizing the amount of paychecks you pull in. It's not about building the program here. Ever. It's probably why Belicheat split. Cared too much about winning.

TuscanyTile2
Please don't let the Jets hire Todd Haley. The guy seems like a lunatic to me plus he has off the field issues (getting into a bar fight last offseason). I'd be happy with Arians or to give DeFillipo a chance though. I would be bummed if it were Haley (which is why I expect him to get hired).

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You are right, I stand corrected http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/13/defilippos-contract-expires-after-the-season-making-him-free-to-leave/ DeFilippo’s contract expires after the season, making him free to leave Posted by Mike Florio on January 13, 2018, 10:01 AM EST Getty Images In response to the news that the Seahawks may hire Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo to be the team’s next offensive coordinator, some of you have asked whether the Eagles would let him leave. This year, they have no choice. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, DeFilippo’s contract expires after the season. Which means the Eagles won’t be able to block him from taking another job elsewhere as an assistant coach. Last year, a report emerged that the Eagles reneged on a promise to let DeFilippo leave for a coordinator job elsewhere, with owner Jeffrey Lurie saying “no” after coach Doug Pederson and executive V.P. of football operations Howie Roseman had said he could. By rule, a team can block an assistant under contract from leaving for another team as an assistant coach, even if the new job technically constitutes a promotion. For DeFilippo, he can take any other job he wants in 2018, with any other team.

Patriot Killa
Maybe it had something to do with quitting in the Denver game? Who knows. Maybe his game plans didn’t resonate well with the rest of the staff. Maybe he was pushy towards the players. Created a bad atmosphere. JetFaninMI
I knew this coming after the report that Morton was rumored to be going with Gruden. Hopefully they will hire Todd Haley and then when Bowles is finally fired Haley would be in the running for HC. Maybe that will be enough incentive for Haley to take the job.
