And Vilma wasn't so much bad as he was simply playing in the wrong system.

We have seemed to do that a lot over the years... especially with LBs; remember how James Farrior was deemed a bust? Then he went to PIT...

As a franchise we never seem to learn that square pegs in round holes doesnt work...

I will try to check it out. I was just looking over the rules and saw this:

  • There will be no kickoffs; halves, odd overtime periods and after scores will begin on each team's own 25-yard line, the same as touchbacks in the NFL and NCAA. In lieu of an onside kick, a team can keep possession of the ball by attempting a scrimmage play from their own 28-yard line and gaining at least 12 yards.[22] (The original proposal for this play had teams making a 10-yard play from the 35-yard line.)[21][2]

Shades of the NFL.  Make and modify existing rules in order to make the game worse.  Just glancing at the rosters, the kickers seem to be a strength, in making the appearance of the league as "legitimate".  So in typical modern day sports league fashion, they make rule changes to further minimize the position.  Same case with the "onside kick substitute".  Ten yards from the 35, at least seems reasonable, both as a  gamble and risk/reward.  So of course they have to "tweak it" making it less reasonable.  Typical.  PS Seems like Hackensh*t will not be the starter, even in this league.  Bet  Mettenberger  beats him out.

Those are pretty much the only 2 examples.  It doesn't happen "a lot".

We really just suck at picking the good players.  We're one of the worst teams in the NFL, historically, in that regard.

This notion that Hack's big issue was his throwing motion is pure bullsh*t.

In the limited time in which we saw him in preseason, he couldn't read the field, had terrible instincts for the position, and was not very accurate.

Hopefully, he fixed some of that stuff.

I need to see that rule play out. If a team is good enough, they can keep the ball for the entire game. At least that’s what I get from it.

NY doesn't have a team?   (I'm assuming every team in the league would play week 1).

EDIT: Teams I'd be most likely to adopt based on city would be San Diego, Arizona and Memphis.  I just looked at the ex-Jets though and I'll probably have to choose between Memphis (Hackenberg) and Atlanta (Matt Simms).
