Thanks everyone for the continued thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. It means the world to us.  Lauren finished her 18 week treatment plan which was chemo every week and two hormone therapies every third week with the chemo. A bunch of side effects from the treatment but she battled through. At the end of the 18 weeks they did another set of scans. When you get the results you are always hoping to hear, no sign of cancer, it is a miracle. The reality though with Stage 4 is that wasn't very

Then unfortunately a routine doctors appointment ended up with an emergency hospital stay and pretty invasive surgery.  She was in the hospital for a week in May, her breast cancer has returned and unfortunately spread a bit.

The Oncologist got the report right away and the team at Memorial Sloan Kettering took over immediately. This morning she had her 5th chemo treatment. That will happen once every week for 18 weeks. The cancer has changed a bit and in a good news \ bad news kind of way they have hormone therapies they are treating her with as well. The oncologist said she feels the outcome will be good here.

It is a long road, none of this is fun. But Lauren has amazing family and friends around her. Lauren used to post her back in the day but I realize most of you don't know her. She is the most positive person I have ever met. She simply never complains, just tackles each step and does it all with a smile on her face. So I wanted to let everyone know because we don't do religious talk here but I am a believer. So prayers are definitely appreciated.

So sorry to hear this Max. Two of my aunts battled breast cancer last year and kicked its ass. From the sound of it, Lauren is badass just like them and I have no doubt she’ll beat the brakes off this thing yet again. Prayers to you and yours my man, please keep us updated as you feel fit and let us know if there’s anything we can do to help.

Hey Everyone, 

@Maxman, aka Phil, shared with all of us the unfortunate news that his wife, Lauren, is battling cancer for the 3rd time.

We all know she's going to win this fight and many have asked, besides kind words and prayers, how they can help.

I reached out to Phil, suggesting I, and perhaps others, would be willing to take the burden of worrying about putting dinner on the table each night off of their plates, so that they could focus on healing.  Phil graciously accepted the offer.

So, now I turn to you.  He's spent countless hours and dollars providing us this incredible community.  Now, let's say thank you and we care about you.

In discussing this with him, we did agree that we didn't want anyone to be put out by this, so we're asking for donations to max out at $25 per person.  I can't control this, but we didn't want to ask anyone to give anything that was a large financial outlay.

Lastly, if anyone is concerned about the integrity of this, Phil and others on this site know 1) my full name and 2) my profession.  The latter is important because my profession is guided by an extremely strict ethics board, and conducting this fundraiser with anything other then the highest level of integrity could effectively end my career.  Rest assured, no money raised would be worth me doing anything besides exactly what I am promising to do.

So please, if you feel like you benefit from this community Phil created - let's help him and his family as they go through this awful, but soon to be successful, process.
