I'm a big selah defender. Or at least was. His job to use play makers, he is smart enough to know Zach sucks and go run heavy. As far as I'm concerned Joe could can him and I be good with it.  Most others would too because he is the Zach guy.

i think saleh could coach somewhere else but not here.  the jets need a real offensive guy b/c they haven't had one in a long time.  he's good at defending his players, but right now he should be playing other guys who can help the team more, like izzy and ruckert.  they need the young talent on offense they drafted.  they wouldn't have used tippman this past week if it weren't for an injury.  increasingly i get the feeling he feels his job is on the line and we've seen it with numerous other jet coaches in the past that they tend to bench the rookies and play the veterans.

It would be nice to hear the rationale over bringing in this street FA over Wentz. Douglas seems to be on vacation I guess.

My guess is that when you look at QB archetypes, Wentz is too similar to Wilson in that he’s too boom or bust with iffy decision making.  Don’t get me wrong, Wentz is considerably better than Wilson, but I just don’t think the staff wants that type of player for this team.  They want a Point Guard type.  Safe, conservative and can make the plays that are there.  Maybe give up some “explosive” potential for more consistency.  That’s not to say Simien is undoubtedly the PG type either, but I think that’s probably the “book” on him.

When exactly does Wilson “boom”?

Chances are we won't be drafting a QB in the 1st next year and we'll be loading up on OL + WR depth in free agency and draft.

The Jets are clearly going to be picking top 10 this year if not top 5. What's the most Jet-sy thing to do? Of course it's spending elite draft capital on weapons for your 40 year old QB just coming off major surgery.

If we're in a position to draft him they're drafting Marvin Harrison Jr

the problem is, if rodgers gets hurt again, what other qb are they bringing in who can utilize these players?  are they trading draft collateral for dalton?  it's much more logical to draft a qb in round 1 or 2 and groom that guy.  i could see a trade back in round 1 so they get a 2nd rounder to do this.  but they really, really need a qb here who has upside besides rodgers.

I don’t know. As long as they start him I guess I’m fine with it.

Not sure how you can be that mad about this.  Cousins wouldn't happen for a few weeks and Jets can't start out 1-6.

Siemian had a decent stretch of games in 2021.  Competent play at QB is all we need to compete.

The thought of watching Zach the rest of the year is grotesque.  Can't happen.  Won't do it, can't do it.

Jets signing Trevor Siemian, but Robert Saleh says Zach Wilson remains QB1: He gives us 'best chance to win'

The veteran QB is expected to join the Jets' practice squad

By Jeff Kerr

While Zach Wilson continues to struggle for the New York Jets, the front office is being proactive in bringing in a quarterback. The Jets are bringing in veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian for a visit and intend to sign him pending a physical, according to CBS Sports Lead NFL Insider Jonathan Jones. CBS Sports HQ Senior NFL Insider Josina Anderson adds the plan for him is to join their practice squad.

Siemian was with the Cincinnati Bengals in training camp before being released on cutdown day in August. He was in a competition with Jake Browning for the Bengals' backup quarterback job.

Siemian has started six games over the last four years and 30 in his eight-year career, not winning a game he's started since 2017. He played two games last season, going 15 of 26 for 184 yards (57.7%) with a touchdown and an interception (76.4 rating).

The Jets have Wilson as their starting quarterback and Tim Boyle as the backup after Aaron Rodgers was lost for the season with a torn Achilles. Wilson and Boyle are the only two quarterbacks on the roster.

Siemian's signing doesn't mean Wilson's job is in jeopardy. Jets head coach Robert Saleh reiterated on Monday Wilson is their "unquestioned quarterback."

'We see on a day in and day out basis is a young man who is much improved from a year ago," Saleh said. "He's much more confident, he's much more accurate, he's got much more command of the huddle, he looks better in the pocket. Could have been better yesterday, but he's improved, and he's getting better. He's going through his progressions, and when he is hitting his back foot with his timing and rhythm, he looks fantastic, and you just don't throw people away man. You just have to continue to work with him.

"He's here, he gives us our best chance to win, and as coaches, we're going to do everything we can to help him."

For now, Wilson is the Jets' QB1. Siemian could be competition down the road, or just a depth move for a position that needs a third signal caller.

If we are in a position to draft a QB we love high in the draft without trading up, then I absolutely think we should. I just think until he announces retirement....this is Aaron Rodgers' team.

i think it was much more his team when he was playing and the jets were going to have a late 2nd round pick after making the playoffs.  but now, if this continues on the dumpster fire trajectory and the jets really have a good 1st round pick in the draft, i think it's less of his team.  and that's also assuming that douglas and the coaches stay.  things change, rodgers is proving fragile now and the jets will be looking for a qb to draft, what round, idk.

With our luck you know we won't suck enough for Caleb...

Bo Nix top of the 2nd...or trade back up in the bottom of the 1st?

Let him sit behind AR 8 for a year or two?

Your guess for our final record?

If we stay with Wilson throughout I think we end up with 3 wins total, which will most likely be a top 3 pick, certainly a top 5.

If we switch to Siemian I think we win 6, which will be around that top 10 ish spot.
