Nah… they should play Carl Lawson.

While they’re at it, keep runnin’ Allen Haphazard out there instead of one of the kids who actually wants to play.

Did you watch Gipson spitting the ball up like he was allergic?  I have seen plenty of reasons not to just trot the young guns out there all game.

This board cracks me up.  THEY RUINED ZACH WILSON!!  Any idiot would know that they should have let him sit and worked him in slowly!!  THEY ARE IDIOTS FOR NOT PLAYING ALL THE YOUNG PLAYERS!!  How can they learn if they aren't on the field?!

Allen Haphazard doesn’t run routes, he lollygags around aimlessly.   He has arthritic hands.  Doesn’t fight for the ball.  He shows zero “oomph.”  Yeah, that is an old-school term but this sport requires it and everyone knows what it means.

Hard to be worse than the film he is putting out there…

He has a chance to be a very good player but he was a total luxury pick, it also hamstrings pass rusher when the team never blitzes and makes it very easy for other olines to account for our 4 that rush.

Something has to give between him and Huff, though they have very different body builds they are the same player function wise.

We need to sign and trade Huff. If the staff believes Mcdonald can do what Huff has done  We need picks. All of those picks should be on offense. All of them.

Keeping an eye out for when Jaxon Smith Njigba takes his rightful place as the NFL’s Drops King. He’s one back of Tyreek Hill on about half the targets. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Really?  He just had one of the greatest days a WR has ever had!

Why? We are dumping Carl Lawson. Sign Huff long term. Problem solved. Not sure why everyone wants to get rid of our best pash rusher other than he is an UDFA.

The key question is do the Jets view Huff as a luxury given the state of the offense?  Only so many dollars to go around and if he balks at a Jets long term offer, do the Jets have $20M in cap space for the franchise tag?

A major f-up by JD puts us in a position of weakness:

1. The Jets failed to see Huff’s upside before drafting McDonald

2. They failed to play McDonald meaningful snaps before the trade deadline, as a precursor to dealing Huff for a 2nd or 3rd rounder

3. They failed to draft a WR or OT in round 1, one of which will likely need to be filled via FA, taking dollars away from franchising or signing Huff long term

Just horrible management.  But don’t worry, the next GM and coaching staff will get a  2025 3rd round comp pick

Why would Huff sign here as an UFA only to be traded?

Or do you mean using the $20M franchise tag before trading him?  That might be a possibility but we’ve weakened our own position because teams know we cannot afford that tag with so many other holes to fill.

Why?  They are both pass rush specialists not 4 down players.   Being the same type of player you are not putting two undersized DEs on the field at the same time.  At present Huff who we all love gets like 40% of the D snaps, mcdonald way less than that.

The problem with our all world dline is that there is a law of diminished returns, these guys are simply not on the field often enough for the amount they are getting paid or drafted at.

So it is a choice, do i keep all my 40% snaps dline rusher or do i actually try and improve oline or wrs etc

The jets will probably resign huff but douglas has some big cap decisions to make sooner than later

Again he is our best pass rusher. You need to re-sign guys like this. He is becoming an all around player, he leads the NFL in pressure percentage and he is only 24.  Signing him is a no brainer. in my view. If he was a 1st round pick no one would be considering letting him go.

The guy who is leaving is Lawson.

Have to wonder if the whole saleh/jd dynamic is that saleh has been reluctant to play these guys like him and izzy b/c the more of the draft picks that look good the worse it ultimately reflects on the coaches for not playing them

maybe these guys werent ready in week 1 to play?

its not just rookie QBs who need to sit for a little while to learn things. remember JJ didnt play much at all last year and was thought as the worst of the first 4 picks. now he is just as good as any of them. in fact with JJ play this year im not worried if we lose Huff.

Beats out Stroud and Carter

PICK NO. 15: NEW YORK JETS: EDGE WILL MCDONALD IV

Overall Rookie Grade: 76.9 (Rank: N/A)
Principal Opponent: Dion Dawkins
Week 11 Snaps: 12
Week 11 Grade: 82.9

On what was an otherwise horrendous night for the Jets, McDonald finished as the team's highest-graded player in Week 11. Among his 12 snaps were two pressures and a run stop. His speed off the edge gave both Buffalo tackles problems in pass protection. His first career tackle for loss was also impressive, as he blew by Quintin Morris to make a tackle on Ty Johnson in the backfield. With their season now fully in the doldrums, the Jets may be wise to give their first-rounder more exposure moving forward

McRib’s and alka seltzer for  everybody boys!!

I hear you on d where they already had talent but the offense has been so bad, they could have used izzy all year.  Now they actually cut the rb who they thought so highly of they were deactivating izzy to play.  And then he’s active but only used in garbage time.  Took forever to play ruckert too, and tippman was only in there due to injuries early in the season.  Playing Cobb over the younger wrs.  You can’t score, try anything

when i made a point about QW not worth his 20 mil for 1 sack i was told he was getting double teamed and because of that freeing up guys like Huff and JJ to get sacks. if thats the case then you could put McDonald there to get the sacks right? and JJ is having just a good of year as Huff.

besides i think that was the plan in drafting McDonald all along.

i like Huff but we cant keep everyone especially with the offense as bad as it is Rodgers is going to need some help. that money could be better used to get him that help and let McDonald take over for Huff.

This is the problem.

The kid is 100% ready to break out and dominate but he just can't get on the field.  His explosiveness/quick twitch is beyond obvious at this point.

We’re also going to see izzy break one too.  And you have to wonder what type of conversations will be going on between saleh and douglas.

He's gonna' put up 700+ yards as a rookie.  Not bad for a guy who was being written off after a bad week 1.

But as I've said before, even though JSN was the right pick for this team this season, the McDonald pick is going to be a great one over time.  Kid is going to be a monster.
