JoeC36 why making it personal?

Because you're the one who started the thread. If EY, or Tom, or Sg3, or Carl, or Klecko,or anyone else started the thread I would have used their name.

It's funny to me that people want to rally to keep other people from gaining or maintaining employment.

Nothing personal about it.

The Bills' offensive roster was suited for ground n' pound they didn't have the players to air it out. The best WR was Sammy Watkins and he was a rookie who got injured. After that they had all scrubs and Scott Chandler and no great qb's.

If I'm Quinn or Bowles the Jets job is the last job I want. Even Oakland is a more desirable job right now.

There are only 5 job openings. Oakland is by far the least desirable as it will be a reverse Idzik/Rex situation, with the coach coming in and working with a GM on the hot seat. Would not at all be surprising to see them just stick with Sparano. No one in high demand is going to take a job at a place where everything could blow up immediately.

From what I hear, Rex Ryan is a top five coach and he is available. Surely, one of those other three teams will hire him.

That leaves three openings, including the Jets. There is absolutely a great chance of landing Bowles or Quinn, as long as we don't settle for Buffalo's leftovers.

Who is Worse? Jets fans or Jets beat writers? I think it's a toss up. I think both are happier when there's chaos. Jets fans, like reporters, will never be happy, will always complain, and will always prefer the 2nd string QB or some unknown coordinator somewhere. I'd be happy with Quinn, Marrone, or Bowles. And I'll take Wolfe's and Casserly's opinion over Manisih Mehta or some self hating fan on this site! Go Jets!

He was under contract for 1 more year wasn't he before QUITTING?

Do you read.  The Bills just got a new ownership group that didn't hire him.  He had one year left on his current deal and the odds were pretty decent he might not have even had that.

I worked at a job a couple years ago in which a new boss came in, different guy from who hired me with a totally different philosophy, I continued to work for him and did a good job but I got the f*ck out before sh*t started to get uncomfortable.

Stop listening to media soundbytes and twitter.  Twitter lowers IQ that's a fact especially if you read tweets by Manish Mehta.

Hard to be passionate about unknowns. Maybe Quinn or Bowles will be great head coaches, but you or I or even the team doing hiring don't know that. Making statements like their better options than Marrone is hogwash.

Jets have hired another person to Search Committee

We're just going to have to disagree.  Oakland has a more talented roster than we do.  I'm not a big Derek Carr guy but he is better than Geno and the scrubs available in free agency.  If we played in Oakland week 1 we would have gotten killed.

Also, the Bay area for quality of life is better than the NY/NJ area and way less media scrutiny.  The Raiders job is almost a no-lose scenario - you could go 7-9 next season and be considered the next Lombardi.  If you do lose just blame it on Son of Al - that's why Lane Kiffin keeps getting jobs.

You're insane. It's a huge LOSE scenario, in that if you don't win immediately, the guy who hired you is getting sh*tcanned and you'll be at the mercy of a brand new GM that will want to bring in his own people. Unless Woody Johnson buys the Raiders, that coach will be f*cked.

NY Jets fans haven't we suffered enough through all these chemistry set coaching experiments.

This guy is not the answer lets send a message to Woody Johnson .

Doug Marrone a losing record in college and the NFL and fans want to hire him.

Whats more embarrassing is 46 years and counting. Sick and tired of hiring slugs to coach this team been through the Kotite,Groh and Coslett years here how about you?

Doug Marrone has won NOTHING he's a QUITTER

I could be wrong but odds are I'm not

Haven't we seen enough such trolling

The Jets continue to proceed with interviews for their vacant positions at head coach and general manager—and they're moving quickly.

Doug Marrone, who emerged as a candidate this week immediately after he opted out of his contract with the Bills, is slated to sit down with Jets brass on Saturday.

Word that Marrone and the Jets would meet Saturday was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Marrone, a Bronx native, has been reported as the frontrunner to succeed Rex Ryan at One Jets Drive, and at least one Vegas sportsbook now lists him as its betting favorite. But Marrone's credentials, while solid, hardly seem to make him a slam dunk, and he's still just one of seven confirmed candidates.

What type of controversy is going on in Buffalo?  I missed all that as the reasoning why Doug Marrone QUIT on them.

New ownership.  No guarantees against this team leaving the country, or a new stadium, or if they are moving elsewhere in the U.S.  This was the reason BB left us....ownership issues after Hess sold the team to Johnson.

Marrone was a loser in Syracuse and a loser in Buffalo but Jets fans want him as head coach? WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Do you think Tomlin would have the record he does if he took over the Bills instead of a Steelers team that had just won a SB with a young QB and had basically everything in place when he became their coach? Marrone took over bad teams and has left both in better shape than when he arrived, which is more than our outgoing coach and many other coaches can say. Not to say I want Marrone, but your argument doesn't hold water.

Oh, stop with the drama. People leave their jobs all the time for better ones, particularly when their current one is dysfunctional. Job openings do not wait for contracts to expire and openings are not always available. I give the guy credit for leaving the security of a current position for the chance at a better one. Oh, and his contract is what made his quitting possible.

Not to mention he drafted E.J. Manuel in the first round two years ago and dumped hi after he failed to develop. Who's fault? Who knows but I don't want another HC that is clueless about QB's.

Because he may have drafted a QB that didn't workout, he is clueless on QBs? Wow! Jimmy Johnson drafted Steve Walsh with a 1st round supplemental pick, I guess he was clueless too!

Amazing how ignorant some post are.

Normally I agree with nothing that the OP has to say, but in this instance I fully agree with him. Marrone is the definition of middle of the road mediocrity which probably means that he is a perfect fit for the Jets. This has Kotite 2 written all over it. If they hire this clown before hiring a GM, I will will write the Jets a nice letter on very official looking stationery demanding that my PSL be refunded due to to dysfunction and ineptitude. I know this won't happen, but I will be heard. This is a chance to try something new but instead we are looking to repeat past disasters. Only the focking Jets

Didn't even think of that. Just another reason to appreciate the job he did in Buffalo.

Do you really think that a rookie HC had the influence or power to override the GM on who to select in the daft?

Don't get how everyone is slobbering over Marrone when he has accomplished nothing. A lot of this fan base deserves everything that the inept ownership heaps on it. Please Woody, don't use the lubricant next time you attempt to jam something in our collective asses, we like the pain.
