Alright Jets fans, it’s okay to exhale.  Gang Green has reportedly come to terms with rookie defensive lineman Quinnen Williams on a brand new deal just hours after the team held their first practice at Florham Park.

#Jets confirm they have agreed to terms on a deal with No. 3 overall pick Quinnen Williams.

Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams’ holdout lasted just one, no-pads training camp practice.

That’s because Williams on Thursday became the final 2019 NFL Draft pick to sign his rookie contract. News of Williams’ deal being finalized — as announced by the Jets — came out shortly after pass rusher Nick Bosa, the second overall pick this year, signed with the 49ers.

The issue between Williams and the Jets centered on the payment of his signing bonus. Williams wanted it all in Year 1, for tax and investment purposes. It remains unclear how the bonus will be paid. The Jets wanted to defer some of the money until after Year 1, as new general manager Joe Douglas (a first-timer in that role) negotiated his first big rookie deal.

For the most part, rookie contracts are now slotted, though. The parameters of Williams’ fully guaranteed deal — $32.529 million over four years, including a $21.677 million signing bonus. There is, as usual, a fifth-year option clause for the Jets to exercise in the contract.

Williams will provide a significant boost for new coordinator Gregg Williams’ defense, as both a run stopper and a pass rushing presence up the middle. Gregg Williams is counting on getting pressure up the middle (something Patriots quarterback Tom Brady hates) with his defensive front, since he doesn’t exactly have fearsome edge rushers.

The Jets on Thursday held their first training camp practice, and Quinnen Williams wasn’t there. But he is expected to be in attendance Friday. His one-practice holdout won’t have any impact on his production in Year 1.

Last year, the Jets’ top overall draft pick — quarterback Sam Darnold, who also went at No. 3 — missed three camp practices while engaged in a contract standoff with the Jets. Darnold ultimately wound up getting his entire signing bonus up front.

From rotoworld:

Jets signed No. 3 overall pick DL Quinnen Williams to a four-year, $32.5 million contract.

The deal includes a $21.68 million signing bonus and fifth-year team option. New York reportedly initially tried to defer more than 30 percent of Williams' signing bonus to the second year of his contract, but the two sides met in the middle on a 25 percent layover and 75 percent once he puts pen to paper. Williams shredded the Combine with 83rd-percentile SPARQ results and 4.83 speed, otherworldly for a 303-pound human. Better suited for three-technique tackle in the pros, Williams’ game is reminiscent of Gerald McCoy as a slippery and explosive inside presence who can also win with power and balance and is capable of running down space players in pursuit.
