Im not saying this thread title is wrong but it seems like anytime Sam has a rough day, people look at QW being a bust

and the same logic applies

if Sam is "too young" to write off than QW, a year younger than Sam, is truly too young to write off

QB is "just a little bit" tougher of a position to learn.

yeah and Sam's had a year head start

QW is 22 years old

for context Nathan Shepherd is almost 27

Steve mcClendon is 34 and spent his first 2 years on and off the steelers practice squad

there are very few "insta-good" Defensive linemen at the age of 22

kind of ironic, since mccagnan's agenda was to draft guys in the first round with low bust potential, so you'd think he would avoid underdeveloped DL who would take several years to develop when he had to know his job security was quite tenuous.

His problem is in his temperament, and that doesn’t get better over time. Macc and Bowles specialized in drafting nice kids who wouldn’t talk back to Todd, and that doesn’t work as a DL. Quinnen is just a squishy goofball whom Macc gave millions of dollars to. This is Amobi Okoye redux

Yep.  Defensive players are supposed to be all about destruction.  Hence why its OK to have 2-3 sociopaths on the defensive side of the ball (but no more than that, or you end up like the Marvin Lewis Bengals).  Why else did James Harrison last as long as he did in the NFL?

There's no room for being a "nice guy" in the NFL if you play defense.  Especially if you're the guy who is supposed to be battling interior OL and tackling QB's.

Oh well the career arcs of a 3rd rounder and UDFA and THE THIRD OVERALL PICK IN THE DRAFT should be very much the same I agree.  I'm sure Quinnen would be getting sacks if the jets were up on texas tech by 40 points at half time though.

Sam Darnold and QW are both 3 overall picks in the draft

the board seems to give one a free pass and the other is a scape goat for everything wrong with the team

this thread should be titled "Sam Darnold fell down against the 2nd team for no reason"

people like to bash the defense when it's the only decent part of the team for the last ten years

and even further, everything in the NFL is based on scoring points. A defense that holds the other team to other 25 or 30 is a decent NFL defense in 2020

Jets fans feel like our defense has to pitch shut out cause Sam Darnold can't buy a first down.

here's a spicy take Sam Darnold has less trade value than QW.  Even considering positional scarcity.

Back to the drawing board.

The next time Daniel Jeremiah and friends rank some jobber DT as their defactor no1 talent in the draft... you guys won't start the circle jerk, yet again.... right?
