Jets trying to trade Leveon Bell

Now you have flip-flopped. First you want assets for this year. Now you are saying rebuild. Which is it?

Whatever it takes to win games. The NFL is about winning games on the field not on paper and not on message boards.

What don't you get the NY Jets are the laughing stock of the NFL.

I hear what you're saying, but they are two different positions requiring two different skillsets and two players of very different age and experience levels.

I expect an All-Pro running back, even on a weak offense with a weak offensive line, to hit a hole now and then for a big gain.  And I've seen Bell have space, have a hole to run through, and do so very weakly.  More often than not, I'm seeing Bell dancing and making a bad decision and being tackled for a loss.

It's hard to be a Jet during these difficult times.  Bell is making noise, again, and wants to move to another team.  We should accommodate him.  If he has anything left (I have serious doubts) he's a piece for a win-now team.  We never should have signed him.  It was exciting in that moment, but it was foolish.

i hear you too.  i think some of the issues with bell is that gase never put his complete faith in the guy's ability.  i'm willing to bet bell wants the ball way more and gase wants running back by committee.  bell isn't in the game enough to get a feel for the game.  i'll give him the benefit of the doubt here because of his past performance with the steelers.

i also think there's some truth is a good running back getting better as the game wears on.  honestly it's tough to keep running when playing from behind but if only down by a score with more than a quarter to play running isn't out of the picture.

Too bad nobody listens or the NY Jets would  have players on this team like Mahomes,Watson, DK Metcalf,Tyrann Mathieu etc.  instead of the slugs we have.

How old are you?

Remember you too if your lucky  may live as long as I have.

Isn't it about time you start another worthless thread.

@Jetsfan80 I cant hear you replying back.

Miles Sanders is one of the better HB's in the nfl in the pass game.

I know that.  Just speculating an off the radar team that might consider Bell.  The Eagles offense is dreadful.  Pederson is creative enough to find a way to use both.

BTW, Rotoworld writers (for whatever they are worth), feel that it would take the Jets GIVING a pick with Bell to allow another team to digest his contract.

  • The Daily News' Manish Mehta reports the Jets are shopping Le'Veon Bell prior to the November 3 trade deadline.

It's unsurprising it came to this after neither Adam Gase nor GM Joe Douglas attempted to put out the flames of any trade rumors for Bell this offseason. The issue isn't whether or not Gase wants to part with Bell's hefty price tag, but whether any organization would even take Bell's guaranteed $8.5 million base salary on. The 28-year-old's contract does at least offer a team-friendly out for $4 million in dead cap space this offseason. The Jets would likely have to move a pick in order to part with the disgruntled running back, who has averaged 3.3 YPC across 17 appearances since signing his four-year, $52.5 million contract.

If that’s the price, hang up the phone. Let him play out the year here, cut next year with no loss to us. If he causes trouble, make him inactive.

Nobody is trading for Bell.

He’s carrying too big a cap hit for someone as slow as him.

we might end up cutting him, but we’re not getting any value.

The only cap hit another team would be on the hook for is the $6m left for this season. This is the list of teams that could fit that contract this year. Now some teams (or all) may be looking to roll over as much cap as possible for next season but I'm willing to bet that the teams that consider themselves Super Bowl hopefuls are going to be willing to sacrifice $6m in roll over to get a ring this year.

So you believe if they had leaked it to another reporter, that reporter would have refused to run with the story because they love the Jets?  Okay.

But they didn't leak it to another reporter so I have no idea what you are talking about tbh

The Ravens strike me as an interesting location given the Douglas connection and their win now mentality, not to mention they will have $52M in cap next offseason so sacrificing $6m isn't a huge deal.

Fitting it and willing to pay it for a recently injured, slow RB, that has now forced his way out of two franchises are two very different things.

the big point here is he’s simply not any good anymore.  If he came cheap, maybe someone would take a chance and give up a 6 or 7.

but forget it.

I'm no Gase fan, but here's one thing not many are considering: maybe Bell is just washed up, and can't even beat-out 37-year-old Frank Gore in practice. Maybe he just sucks now.

Well we know he averaged 4.7 yards per carry last week in a game that probably had the best run blocking this team has managed in over a year.  Even with that being the case, he limited carries for Bell and fed Gore a bunch of carries to break up any chance at a rhythm.

Wasn't your claim that they leaked it to Manish because they knew he would report it because he hates the Jets?  Isn't that suggesting that the other beat reporters are Jets fans so they wouldn't report the fact that Bell is being shopped?

Why would they trade for Bell when they already have Ingram, Dobbins, Edwards and Hill on the roster? And Lamar Jackson is a dual-threat quarterback?

Browns would be the perfect spot for him IMO.

They are 4 deep at RB.
