Popular Post Rangers9
Hopefully they'll keep the natural grass. But having WC final at Met Life a really big deal. Bigger than the SB. 6
C Mart
Art Stapleton @art_stapleton FIFA requires natural grass surfaces for all World Cup games, so MetLife will be converting for those games in two years. We'll see if they can come up with something that stays for all other events as well. There will also be required renovations at MetLife to comply with FIFA 2/4/24, 4:08 PM

They did it at the old stadium last time they hosted WC games, they built a platform over the turf for the grass fields if I remember correctly.

Bocajetfan
Having the World Cup and a grass field may have little to no impact on NFL games being played at Met Life. Schedule will be impacted greatly.

ScouserJet
Can't wait to pay $300 to watch Tajikistan Vs. New Zealand at Metlife, honestly. World Cup is biggest event in the World, so quite the accomplishment for Metlife, SB host and WC final. Get that Natural Grass down and pray it doesn't rain! y2k8
It has zero significance for the Jets and Giants. If they figure out a grass field solution for MetLife for an NFL season, it will be completely independent of what FIFA will mandate.

Sadly since then, they've watered it down immensely. 24 teams expanding to 48 in 2026 kind of makes all group games pointless. I'm hoping we get some good matchups at Metlife, would be cool to watch a meaningful WC game there.
