dr84
Too bad he's burnt so many bridges in this org. He actually could've been a useful piece with Clark down. He's horrible in coverage but could really potentially help our run game.

Bugg
Memories, from the corner of my mind , and stuff... https://thespun.com/nfl/chicago-bears/where-are-they-now-the-9-players-taken-ahead-of-patrick-mahomes-in-nfl-draft "Jamal Adams was the best safety of the 2017 NFL Draft and if you don't believe it he'll happily tell you. In three seasons with the Jets, Adams made two Pro Bowls and was a two-time All-Pro selection. But after forcing his way out of New York with a trade in 2020, Adams struggled to hold onto the mantle of the league's top safety. His reputation for being a hard hitter in the secondary and elite at getting after the quarterback from the box has suffered in large part because a series of injuries have limited him to just 34 games over the past four years. 2023 was a better year for Adams after missing nearly all of 2022, but he still has a long way to go before he's in the discussion of being the best at anything." This oversells Adams a bunch. Taking him over Mahomes (or Watson, even making the mess he's now making with the Browns) was arguably the single dumbest thing this franchise has ever done. Zach Wilson, he of the jogging shorts running free on a Utah high school field tossing balls to nobodies, 1A on the list. Jets, pretty much bereft of anything you would call an NFL offense at the time (Ryan Fitz-fvckin-Patrick?) took not one but 2 safeties at the top of this draft. May be they could've picked a punter or a guard if they wanted to have a more impactful player than god damn safety you can sign off the street every March. This franchise has been run by idiots for the entire Johnson Error. Taking a safety-nonpremium positions that's easily filled in free agency or late rounds, and cheaply- with a 1st round pick should be grounds for immediate firing. No great secret if you take a guy in the 1st round, he'll be looking for a big $ long term contract within 2 seasons. Doing so with a safety is idiocy, a complete lack of understanding positional value and cap management. Which is exactly what happened; Adams demanded a payday and the jets balked.

Beerfish
So the horrible mean doomsayers were once again right about a player that half this board defended to the hilt for most of his time here and in Seattle. extmenace
1 hour ago, LionelRichie said: Trying to think of a player who lacked self awareness worse than Jamal and no one comes to mind Or maybe he did, which is why he forced himself out of here and leveraged the Seahawks to give him a big deal. the Seahawks should have had some balls and admitted the mistake and not extended him. Instead, with what they paid to get him, they doubled down on the mistake and gave him stupid money. The Adams trade is one of the most one sided / bad trades in NFL history. The jets won, Adams won, the Seahawks fell apart from that deal. Adams was aware that he needed to get paid, and he needed to get paid at that moment. JoeNamathsFurCoat
The downhill playing style and reckless abandon he built his rep on are gone. He was notorious in Seattle for making business decisions on the field, whiffing on tackles. We already knew he was the worst liability in coverage and has cement hands. And he’s shown he can’t stay on the field for more than like 10 consecutive plays. On top of this, he’s been a jackass with embarrassing pressers and that me-first attitude. Boy did Macc completely whiff on this pick, drafting a box safety for “leadership” over Patrick freaking Mahomes. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 1
