Yeah but it’s already rock bottom. 8-8 would be tremendous for this team. The bar is set so low that I don’t think this is an issue anymore.

The New York media treated Bowles like gold for way too long until they realized that praising him made them look terrible because there were no more excuses and he was just terrible.

No way.

New coach, 100 million spent in the offseason, top 5 pick, and Sam's second year:

$100 mil is nothing when you have to resign your own and there is pure garbage in free agency. I wish you were right but I’m trying to be realistic here.

If Mac is smart he signs or trades for 1-2 legit pass rushers this offseason

But he’s not

I don't know, the eye test tells me darnold is a franchise QB. I think a lot of people are on the same page. I realize that's not much of an argument but a franchise QB is like porn. Hard to describe but you know when you see it.

Tell us more about this,  Barry McCockinner.

I would also think that agents and potential HC's see the Jets as a patient (too patient?) organization.  The Jets kept Rex a year too long.  They kept Bowles at least a year or two too long.  Guys get the benefit of the doubt around here.

Look what the Giants did with McAdoo.  One and done.  They knew and they acted decisively.

Let's also remember that Macc does not seem to do the hiring here.  He has a loud voice in the decision but the Jets have interestingly chosen to keep the GM and HC in separate reporting structures.

The Giants were delusional and blamed the wrong guy.

If you have options, you're not coming here.  Harbaugh is a pipe dream.  Established names will always have better options than us on the table.

Many Coordinators and some college HC's who would be first-time HC's would be ecstatic to come here.  But that's only because they'd be getting an NFL HC-ing gig, something only 32 people on the planet get to have at any given time.  But if they had a choice, that doesn't mean we'd be first on their list.

Hence, our next HC will lack experience, just like his predecessors Herm, Mangini, Rex Ryan and Bowles.  Let's just hope whoever we hire ends up being the next McVay. And let's also hope that Mike Maccagnan isn't his GM.

Franchise QB? All Darnold has proven so far is that he is a worse rookie QB than Sanchez was.

I thought I had the worst post of the week for getting pissed off and starting a stupid thread.

So, thanks for taking that from me...appreciate it!

I don’t see how a top flight coach would take the job with Mac as the GM.  They need to fire him or extend him so a coach won’t be scared to take the job and have Mac canned next year.  I really hope they get rid of both, get a new GM and let HIM hire a coach and have a proper chain of command where the coach is under the GM.  Ah but this is the Jets they will do the wrong thing anyway.

An owner (overseas currently) but normally wants to spend and win now rather than develop and gets too involved.  A team that lacks talent (no OL, lousy WRs, no pass rush). A fan base who starts a go fund me to fire the GM and flies banners to help them make a t shirt shop and website.

Who wants to come here?

Do you think the fan base would do this if we was the Pats or Steelers. I.e. Had their record over the last 10 -15 years? - No it's an effect of being so terrible.

This team will look a whole lot different even with a semi competent HC. Not the fan bases fault, we have to put up with it, we just pay they display. Either way the only way is up from here, at this point we are the worst team in the league and it's not close!

I totally agree with you, but for the record, porn seems fairly easy to describe.

Franchise quarterback (hopefully) in place, ton of cap room, and a high draft pick. You’d have to think the right guy can turn this thing around real quick. Maybe like the rams a couple years ago?

Biliicek and Parcells BOTH ran from the Johnsons as fast as they could. Cap space Ok, but no real football man will want to work for the Johnsons with out complete control.  We should be run like the Packers. A public company, a board of directors and a true CEO.  NO Woody.

As long as Woody is running the show or his family, we are a toy in his toy chest.

i hope woody is so embarrassed he can’t leave his office.

c'mon.  that's flat out wrong.  sanchez came into a much better team situation.  he had better players and more team cohesion.  the only thing he was lacking was true no. 1 receiver but that was fixed when they brought in edwards and then holmes.

not entirely true.  the bellichicken ran because he had no spine and was concerned about the ownership transfer from hess to woody.  plus krafty made him a good offer.  parcells fulfilled his contract to the jets.  he didn't run as much as just do what he wanted for his selfish self.

The Tuna left a Super Bowl team to come to the 1-15 Jets??

Leon Hess was a good man who knew how to run a business and put the faith of the franchise in the hands of Parcells. Woody is a trust fund unaccomplished socialite who prefers headlines over Success and wants his hands in everything.

Im shocked how poor Johnson is playing. He had a solid reputation around the league as a quality corner. Blame Mac for stewart and hanson. Don't blame him for Smith. Not his fault the guy tore his acl twice in a year and a half

I would have been shocked if Johnson looked great. Too many things to overlook a mere coincidence. His own team wouldn’t pony up on an extension unless it was below market, and instead kept him year-to-year until the number got unmanageable. He never played behind a DL that got so little pressure without blitzing. His "rating" write-ups were only favorable for specific scenarios rather than overall play.

Anyone expecting him to come to the Jets, on a large contract with crazy up-front dollars, behind a line that needed to shift a safety from coverage help into a blitzer to get any QB pressure, to a team no other premiere FA talked to other than to use us to up his dollars elsewhere, is a fool. And Mike Maccagnan is that fool.

Because of his contract, we need to resign Claiborne(who has been really good) and just settle on those 2 for another 2 years to hold he fort while we rebuild the offense and a passrush.

Defense acquisitions should only be value free agents or scrap heap guys. They have enough talent and just need coaching and offensive talent. It’ll make that defense top 10 easy.

The Tuna left Kraft but after the Jets worked for Jerry Jones who has a crap reputation as a owner.. Under Art Rooney the Steelers had a 40 year losing streak until the 70's..

Jerry Jones vs Woody? This fan base would kill for the track record Jerruh has put up.
