The Jets job will be an envious job for coaching candidates

I would also think that agents and potential HC's see the Jets as a patient (too patient?) organization.  The Jets kept Rex a year too long.  They kept Bowles at least a year or two too long.  Guys get the benefit of the doubt around here.

Look what the Giants did with McAdoo.  One and done.  They knew and they acted decisively.

Let's also remember that Macc does not seem to do the hiring here.  He has a loud voice in the decision but the Jets have interestingly chosen to keep the GM and HC in separate reporting structures.

Franchise QB? All Darnold has proven so far is that he is a worse rookie QB than Sanchez was.

C'mon, dude. He's better than Sanchez. Sanchez had a good supporting cast  all around him on all 3 sides of the ball.

There may be some interesting openings this offseason.
1 browns
2 jets (probably)
3 falcons (maby)
4 fins (maby)
5. Bills (maby)
6 falcons (maby)
7 jags (maby)
8 ravens (maby)

If I had to rank those I’d put the jets at the top of the list along with Cleveland

He has?
Sanchez had the best oline and running game in the league in front of him, a better wr corps and the best defense in the league.

I agree 100 percent Sanchez had a better offense at the very least a better line and rb. Still though darnold hasn't proven himself just yet his statline on the season isnt going to make every potential head coach candidates mouth water.

Every time we have an opening, people convince themselves that this is an enviable job, and every time all the top candidates turn us down.

This is what I was thinking.

The Jets have no "moxie."  A bad history...  Lousy home field advantage...

The aura surrounding this franchise is all wrong...  people see it.  The Jets are in the class with the Browns and the Lions.  Viewed as a lost cause by the outside world, and just about by many of us fans now too.  We have been rumbling the death rattle for years.  Darnold is the last gasp.  I am almost done...

I like Joe Lombardi. Those insurance commercials where he talks about his grandfather have me sold. Other than that I honestly know nothing about him.

Great we get another coach who still isn't a fan of the forward pass.

Sweep right is a great play. It is about execution and today we didn't execute.

Sanchez had a great O-line with brick and mangold in their prime. Jones and Greene running behind that line. Then, Holmes, Edwards and JCo as receivers. The defense was great that year with Rex leading them. Revis in his prime shutdown every teams best receiver by himself! He was better than our whole defense put together.

I don't know, the eye test tells me darnold is a franchise QB. I think a lot of people are on the same page. I realize that's not much of an argument but a franchise QB is like porn. Hard to describe but you know when you see it.

A couple of things that might discourage any coach form coming here:

1. The New York Media

2. The New York Fan Base

Yeah but it’s already rock bottom. 8-8 would be tremendous for this team. The bar is set so low that I don’t think this is an issue anymore.

The New York media treated Bowles like gold for way too long until they realized that praising him made them look terrible because there were no more excuses and he was just terrible.
