Popular Post T0mShane
Found this article interesting. LaCanfora talking to execs around the league about the Brady/Bucs and Rodgers/Pack decline. Generally speaking, offense is way down around the league, and it seems to be hitting the old-heads the hardest. Opinions vary as to why, but one of the trends has been defenses blitzing more out of cover two shells with a higher frequency of nickel personnel. You used to be able to cook that defense over the top—especially guys like Brady, Russ, Stafford, and Rodgers who are historically great against the blitz—but it’s not the case anymore. Anyway, it sounds like Rodgers is being a ******* menace on his way out the door: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/10/22/aaron-rodgers-tom-brady/ And the situation in Green Bay, in particular, could explode. Scouts and executives who have watched the Packers maintain that Rodgers’s body language is worse than ever. and he seems disinterested with even trying to push the ball down the field. (“They can’t get anything going on offense and it almost looks like he doesn’t want to be there,” one evaluator, who isn’t allowed to speak freely about other NFL personnel, told me. “It’s like he’s almost too willing to give up on a play.”) Rodgers’s 7.19 air yards per attempt is among the lowest of his career — more than a yard below his career average, per TruMedia. He is completing just 26.7 percent of his passes of 20 yards or longer, and Green Bay is averaging just 17.8 points per game, the lowest-scoring six-game stretch of his career. Trust in his young core of receivers seems in short supply. The offense looks lost without superstar wide receiver Davante Adams, dealt to the Raiders in the offseason. Rodgers has a pedestrian-by-his-standards quarterback rating of 94.2, he’s been sacked 15 times already, and fissures may be growing. Rodgers, who wanted more sway in personnel among his list demands to return to Green Bay before an eventual detente, is more empowered than ever to say whatever he feels, whenever he feels like it. His postgame remarks Sunday, echoing a repeated refrain to “simplify” the offense, were met around the league as a rebuff of head coach Matt LaFleur, who is dealing with real football tumult for the first time in his fourth season on the job. LaFleur seemed puzzled by the request — “I don’t know what that means,” he told reporters — but it’s likely not the last of his quarterback‘s cryptic comments. They created a monster,” said one general manager, speaking on the condition of anonymity to be able to frankly discuss another team. “He’s got a voice in personnel now, or at least he thinks he does. The knives are about to come out there. That could get really ugly. They should have traded him when they had the chance, and they’re stuck with him now, whether he really wants to be there or not. [And this is] after everything they’ve gone through since they took Jordan Love, and that was when they were winning 13 games a year and he was playing like an MVP. They are in serious s--- now.” 5 1 1 3

Popular Post Green DNA
Offense is way down all around the league. Can't beat teams over the top. Hmm interesting. Maybe a strong running game is the way to get around this league wide quandary. 14 2

Matt39
Also that woke hump who works for the globe used a DM from a random person as evidence that Mac Jones was unhappy. La Canfora’s sources I’d imagine are similar based off of his history of getting things completely wrong. To sum this up, now’s the time to hop on the Packers. 1

CanadienJetsFan
Too much to do about nothing. It’s still early and if you ask me, he wasn’t 100% last week. His thumb/ hand seemed to impede him from throwing more downfield. but what do I know.

The counter to that defense is to line up and mash it with the run, but only a handful of teams have the personnel to do that anymore. Reminiscent of how personnel departments overreacted to the run and shoot and the result was any team with a functional running back walked through the playoffs. Barry Foster had 1700 yards on the ground. Garry Brown. Thurman, Emmitt, etc 6

His thumb was only an issue for one of those games. The issue is their Bellichick-esque insistence on surrounding their hall of fame QB with the least amount of talent at WR. It's been Adams and a bunch of scrubs for years. They used a 1st round pick on jordan love in 2020 with Tee Higgins and Pittman on the board.

Maybe on AR's side but are the Packers really going to do better than him, regardless of how much he talks? I'm somewhat bummed that this didn't happen when the Jets had nothing at QB (e.g. the Fitzmagic days). There's no way the Jets are going after AR now but I think this team would be a Super Bowl contender if we had him. 1

Although, I still think the future of this league is through the air, (Josh Allen and Mahomes still get the job done) but being able to do both effectively, as opposed to whatever the hell Kliff Kingsbury is trying to do in Arizona, is the way to go. 1
Beerfish
Rogers has been massively overrated as far as the whole package goes for some time. He has never been held to account and nothing has ever been his fault. It's hilarious how people blast the packers because poor Aaron only has two high end rbs and some average wrs and oh lord actually facing a few injuries on the oline. How can the league mvp be expected to be any good when he does not have the best wr in the league at his disposal. He in the end will be remembered for one super bowl on a host of damn good teams. 2

Popular Post RedBeardedSavage
Unsurprising that the Rodgers v Management feud is escalating the more they lose, but it is surprising that Jets are actually building for the appropriate strategy (run the ball, get pressure rushing four). We've still got a way to go, but it seems much more intelligent and realistic to try to emulate the 49er formula as opposed to the Buffalo/KC way of playing.

TuscanyTile2
This news nullifies our win. So we've now beaten 3 backup QBs and another QB who was disinterested, didn't want to be there and gave up on plays. And the Broncos game this week and the Patriots game the week after are also against backups. Our season opener is 11/6 against Buffalo. 1
