It is game day. The Jets had such a big let down last week but they will have short memories. Time for Sunday night football in Las Vegas.

The Jets are going to bounce back. Keep grinding out wins, some how, some way. Let this defense dominate and every week is one week closer for big brother Aaron to come back.

Let's go Jets. Win this one! Have to win this one because there is no tomorrow.

Oh yea?

I keep thinking Jeffrey Hunter will make an appearance in Zach Wilson’s hotel room and heal him before game time.

From the Suck.

Jeffery Hunter and Max VonSydow are the 1-2 exacta of least Sephardic Jewish-looking guys to play Jesus in Hollywood history.

Vegas casinos on NFL Sundays are a lot of fun. Circa sports bar with a huge screen off Fremont is great. They opened a sports bar with a pool on top of that.

Prediction:

Zach is terrible to start the game. He gets sacked 7 times in the first half, Jets trailing 13-0. Saleh finally has enough and decides to play Boyle in the second half to provide... something different than what they're getting from QB. Boyle lasts 3 plays and is injured.

Zach is reinserted and has a "Zach vs Jax" type game.

Jets lose 24-3.

Post game we find out that Boyle is going to IR. Tuesday morning, Saleh announces Zach is starting next week, because Siemien "isn't really there yet with the playbook".

The rest of the season plays out exactly like 2022.

The Vatican, The Grand Imam, and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel all release a joint statement that Jets fandom is literally hell, and the world should show us mercy.

World peace ensues.

what will our defensive coordinator acting as a HC have to say after another national disaster???

I have been Saleh's biggest critic.  But with Zach, Chuck Knoll couldn't win.  When Saleh wouldn't respond to questions about Zach, leads me to believe his hands are tied.  The reason seasoned coaches won't come here.

Jets at RaidersShawn Hochuli

Shawn Hochuli’s Impact on Jets at Raiders

The New York Jets head to Vegas for the first time to face the rejuvenated Raiders on Sunday Night Football.

Let’s assess the strengths and weaknesses of both teams from a penalty perspective and how the officiating of Shawn Hochuli will potentially impact this game

Penalty Tendencies:

Shawn Hoculi currently ranks fifth overall for offensive holding penalties per game midway through the 2023 season

The Raiders defense has been effective at generating offensive holding penalties on the opposing offense this season, currently ranking eighth overall. The Raiders haven’t done many things well this season, but a bright spot for this team in 2023 has been its defensive front, led by Maxx Crosby

Shawn Hochuli ranks second overall for ineligible man downfield penalties this season. This is not a high volume penalty but extremely impactful. While the result is a five-yard penalty, it’s often negating a 15 or 20-yard play. It is a penalty that has contributed to lower-scoring games his season

Troy Aikman specifically mentioned the Jets’ pre-snap penalty issues on their MNF loss to the Chargers. The primary contributor to the Jets’ pre-snap woes is false start infractions. The Jets offense commits far too many of these, and they simply don’t have the quarterback play to overcome five-yard setbacks

The Raiders offense is responsible for 55% of the team’s overall penalties this season. False start penalties are also an issue with the Vegas offense at the midway point of the season

Shawn Hochuli leads the NFL in roughing the passer penalties

The Jets currently rank third overall for roughing-the-passer penalties

The Jets defensive secondary is one of the most physical and arguably the best overall unit in the NFL. What’s even more impressive is they have been penalized just once all season for defensive pass interference. Frankly, that call was questionable. It was assessed late in the game on SNF versus the Chiefs, a controversial call that essentially ended any chance of a Jets victory

Shawn Hochuli has called very few defensive pass interference penalties in 2023, averaging the third-fewest per game of any referee

The Bottom Line:

Home teams are 37-48-3 ATS (43%) in Shawn Hochuli’s career

Shawn Hochuli is an NFL best 7-1 Under the total in 2023 and 51-35-2 (60%) Under in his career

This game is extremely difficult to determine from a side perspective. Zach Wilson versus Aiden O’Connell isn’t what the NFL and NBC had in mind when this game was scheduled on SNF back in May.

Hochuli will call his share of timely offensive penalties that will make life even more difficult for the quarterbacks in this game. If form holds, we won’t see too many defensive pass interference calls either.

It is such a low total it leaves very little room for error, and that is a concern. But we have two defensive-minded head coaches who will play it safe with a run-first approach offensively and lean on their defense to win the game.

Hochuli’s record speaks for itself in these situations. What’s clear is both defenses have the advantage in this contest. There will also be a pro-Jets crowd at Allegiant Stadium on SNF.

In the absence of any special teams or defensive scores, this game should be whoever gets to 17 points wins.

Who that will be is hard to predict. But it does make the Raiders versus Jets under 37 points the play in this game.

That's no excuse. If this is coming from Johnson, it's Douglas's and Saleh's job to talk sense into him. If Douglas is the one who is tying his hands, then Saleh needs to grow a pair and tell him to screw himself. Saleh displays about as much authority on this team as a cardboard cutout.

Fair…..  but we as fans knew and suspected this for years.
