Source: New York Jets GM Joe Douglas to make first call of NFL free agency to OT Jack Conklin

New York Jets will prioritize the signing of Titans OT Jack Conklin

That was via sports illustrated last year. Doesn’t mean anything just instantly thought of that when I read your post.

Maybe Douglas learned from his mistake of missing out on Conklin last year considering he was a 1st team All Pro this year.

What time does legal tampering (aka when we can start to hear about deals) actually begin?

and more importantly, what time do we all start freaking out that we haven't signed anybody? The above, plus 30 minutes?

Thuney or Linsley is a must get. If somehow we landed both of them this OL would be top notch

I'd love to draft Josh Meyer and have our own OSU center for the length of their career again, but Linsley would be pretty awesome.

Center is one of my favorite positions and I love when we have a great one.

McGovern is serviceable, but is easily upgraded.

Can't see Joe spending big on two lineman this year though.

What you can do during the legal tampering period:

  • Applicable to unrestricted free agents only.
  • Negotiate “all aspects of an NFL player contract” with a player’s representation.

What you can’t do during the legal tampering period:

  • Teams can’t talk to restricted free agents or exclusive rights free agents during this two-day period.
  • Teams can’t negotiate directly with players, even if they act as their own representation.
  • Contracts can’t be executed or agreed to in principle during the legal tampering window.
  • Players can’t take team visits during this period or make travel arrangements for visits.
  • Contract announcements can’t be made by teams until the new league year begins.

This makes sense because of reports consistent with last year but personally think Linsley signing has potential to be more beneficial financially (likely) and on the field (less likely) if we draft the right IOL to go along with this move.

Having said that, if he signs both Linsley and Thuney dude would hit a home run while still being able to take a swing at an OL in mid rounds this year (Trey Hill maybe?).

Its all about how much he wants to commit to OL and how much he wants to prioritize it over other areas (WR, CB, Edge).

His free agency strategy may also tell us a little bit about his drive to ascertain Watson since a Watson transaction would give us less draft capital and less ability to fill holes. Either way we won't know until draft day but some info can be inferred from how he handles FA.
