Anyone following this Twitter madness? Employees quitting in large numbers. People are wondering where they will get their Jets news from. We let them know we will always be there for everyone.

This Twitter saga is really just the Simpsons episode where the German’s buy the nuclear plant only to sink tons of money into and eventually beg Burns to buy it back from them on the cheap.   I see you, Elon .  Hitting the classics

There isn’t a good alternative to what Twitter does which provides space for people to react to news. Mastadon has seen a sharp increase in user profiles. But that app is clunky.

My expectation is  that Twitter will continue to lose users but, until a good alternative is available, it’ll survive. Revenge of the fired employee. Hmm. Part II of the Saga.

If you're gonna bet against someone, Elon Musk is probably not a good choice.

I think Twitter will be fine, but Elon isn't off to a good start there.

No. The first 3,700 were fired. Then the next 26.

Then Twitter offered people a severance package to quit and way way overshot their internal estimates of how many employees would choose to leave.

Those are two different things, and Twitter has exactly zero to do with the former, since, y'know, it's not a government

Free speech is awesome.

But expecting consequence-free free speech on a platform someone else owns is foolish.

Musk totally bungled the whole "pay $8 for a verified checkmark, that really doesn't verify anything". And tons of suckers ponied up before they reversed course. And then overplayed his hand with his employee relations - the folks that stick around are going to be working long hours to cover the mass exodus.

I hope twitter stays around because #jetstwitter is a roller coaster these days.  But like many other social media apps, all it takes is someone to do it better, and they'll go the way of MySpace.

It was always going to get worse before it got better.  Think of it as an NFL rebuild.   

For your sake I would love to see it happen as I agree you'll pull a lot of Jets Twitter here - but...

Twitter is a monster and isn't going anywhere.

It’s usually Lyft/Uber drivers up here that do that. I assume there’s a percentage of people that do it to live rent free in your head, too.

Yikes!

Thing with this is it won’t be evident in the interface. The company is changing, but the impact of that will not be felt in platform until some time goes by product releases occur.

It amazes me that people run to Twitter to get reactions to news from faceless people with whom they have no trusting relationships with. The reactions that have value are the people in your life that have earned your trust and respect, not some bot or person that just wants to see the world burn. At least here at JN we are (mostly) likeminded and have a specific purpose and common cause. Twitter will never unite the masses and only serve to create further divide. It’s a swamp!

There's a difference between consequence free and equal voice. The consequence should not be disagreeing with the ruling hand and being silenced.
