Aaron Rodgers to the Jets rumor: Merged

Recommended Posts

The more and more I see, the less and less I want Rodgers.  AR and Bahktiari?  This years first?  No thanks.  Now he’s speaking at some drug convention?  Money sounds like it’s going to be too high. And Jermaine Johnson is going to be involved? This wasn’t supposed to harm the future and it’s starting to look like it’s going to.

Yeah if Rodgers were in his early 30’s I might feel better about giving up more.  But yeah, mortgaging the future when we haven’t made the playoffs in over a decade seems a little irresponsible.  Basically, if we were truly in “win now” mode, then ok.

Wasn’t going to harm the future? This whole deal does but the trade off is win-now with a 2 year window and a shot. High risk/high reward. I don’t think it’s necessary.

Welcome to woody Johnson’s jets are you new here? How else do we justify ticket increases without a shiny qb

Yeah, the rumors being floated out there now certainly impact the future. The last couple days all we’ve heard was it wasn’t going to cost a lot in draft capital - now the jets 1st is on the table to bring his constantly injured, highly paid LT friend with him?

I don’t believe Jermaine Johnson is involved.  Why would we agree to throw away a first round pick with a year of solid experience under his belt when we’ve been looking for an Edge for years?  Makes no sense.  The guy is already an elite run stopper and has plenty of upside as a pass rusher.

Bakhtiari’s trade value by itself is about a third round pick given his age, injury history and contract value.

Luckily it’s all rumors so let’s just hope for the best.

Elite? I didn’t see that last year.

Assuming that Rodgers would be willing to use his leverage here (threatening to kill this deal and keep the packers on the hook for all that money over the next 4 years), I wonder if he’ll step up and say that he doesn’t want the Packers to play hard ball with draft compensation because he wants the Jets to be able to use those picks or trade them for proven vets to win now?

I would hope it’s at least crossed his mind.

His agent might, he won't though

Maybe Zach will be part of the comp in the trade.

Oh that would be great for Zach Wilson, although it might piss him off to barely miss his childhood idol. A QB competition between Love and Wilson would be interesting.

Lets hope JD is not an idiot because these high picks for AR would make him one if true. JD is doing the packers a favor by taking AR as they do not want him.

Yea but in this case GB has all of the leverage. They can ask for as much as they want and say "Well it's either this price or Jimmy G for you". Probably one of the reasons why it's not happened yet, as the Packers are asking for more than the Jets are willing to pay, but NY doesn't exactly have another option.

This makes me feel bad for Zach Wilson (not really)

For a millisecond I felt bad for Zack and then I reminded myself that Zack must have been the worst teammate ever and the biggest douche nozzle for Sauce (and others) to blatantly disrespect him like this. I really don't see how Zack can be on the team in any capacity next season.

That would be a giant surprise for a FO that traded up for JJ and really looked like they love him to give him like that.

Yes, but the team is deep now at the position. Huff is one of the best pass rushing specialists in the league and Clemons has done more than enough to make JJ potentially expendable.

I actually had to check to see if La Canfora was this unprofessional. He is a known Jets hater, but this is way beyond. The guy has no credibility when it comes to the Jets because he will always be clouded by his hatred of the organization.

La Canfora does sports radio in Balitmore these days. His career sh*t the bed.
