We're giving up a 2nd this year and a 1st next year.

Honestly, who gives a sh*t lol.  The alternative was Zach Wilson starting this year with an extra 2nd rd pick in the roster. Would you rather have that?

I think that many of the nay-sayers are ignoring *where* in the first round next year’s pick will most likely be.  Even with his bad thumb, I am assuming that we would have finished at least 10-7 last year, which translates to where the Giants are picking on Thursday: in the mid 20s.

We are all so used to the Jets sucking and therefore “earning” a top 10 pick.  Does anybody honestly think that will be the case next year?   If we’ve would be picking at number 25  next year, but it has to go to Green Bay, would anyone be very upset?   How about if we would be  picking at number 30?   Etc.

wow we just got beat. giving up that #1 next year is a killer especially if he retires and were looking for a QB with no 1st rd pick.

lets hope this isnt a repeat of Favre were we are 8-3 and Rodgers gets hurt and still trys to play and we miss the playoffs and have a decent 1st rd pick given away in a good QB draft.

if he retires after one year this will go done as one of the worst trades in Franchise history.

Aaron Rodgers is on his way to the New York Jets for what will likely be no more than two NFL seasons and the Green Bay Packers will be handsomely rewarded for moving on from an asset that they didn’t want in the first place.

Trade compensation, per sources:

Jets get:
?Aaron Rodgers, pick No. 15, a 2023 5th-rd pick (No. 170).

Packers get:
?Pick No. 13, a 2023 2nd-rd pick (No. 42), a 6th-rd pick (No. 207), a conditional 2024 2nd-rd pick that becomes a 1st if Rodgers plays 65 percent of the plays. pic.twitter.com/Q2vUMfyZGH

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 24, 2023

According to Schefter, the Jets will swap first round picks this season, dropping from 13th to 15th, a second-round pick this year (no. 42) and a first round pick next year if Rodgers plays just 65% of the snaps for Gang Green this season.  So barring a major injury to Rodgers, the Jets move down in round 1 while surrendering a 2 this year and likely a 1 next year.  The move down is also the equivalent of a fourth round choice.

There was speculation in recent weeks that the Packers were demanding a guaranteed first rounder next season which the Jets weren’t willing to part with.  But in the end, the Jets essentially guaranteed the Packers their first-round pick next season.

This thread just proves Jets fans can never be happy. It's just not in their DNA. They just got a QB who won an MVP recently after watching the Zach Fing Wilson for 2 years plus the last 50 years of QB futility, and everybody is complaining about what may be a first rounder next year. WGAF. They actually have somebody who has proven to play the most important position in sports at a high level. Some of you really do deserve all the sh*t QB's that have played for this franchise over the last 50 years. Fing morons.

its better than picking 62 with no QB.

we better hope he plays 2 years

That sounds great but historically... I can't think of  team that traded for a QB over the age of 35 and it worked out well. Maybe the Broncos with Peyton but after that the Bronco's fell like a rock. So there is 1.  Are there others?  Good teams build through the draft and develop players.

The big problem with that look at Jets attempt to draft a QB history-hah sad

It was basically E Moore +3rd , a pick swap in the first and a 1st next year (that’s valued as a round later as per year later the round goes down so a 2nd)

Moore, 2 picks later in the 1st, 3rd, and a 2nd.

that’s really not bad.

Agree.. When you look at it like that it isn't.

It’s essentially pick 42 this year and a late first rd pick next year. All things considered that’s not too bad for a starving franchise who hasn’t been to the playoffs in 13 years. Jets just landed an all time great QB who will put them in the hunt for a Super Bowl

There is no way Rodgers plays one year only. I’d be completely shocked since they were given permission to speak with him that he didn’t give them at least a two-year commitment.

this is the interesting part that nobody knows except rodgers and the guys who met with him.  the jets had to know how many years of committment he gave them upfront.

I'll be happy when they start winning games.  Why should I be dancing in the streets just becasue we got the QB we have been after for what looks like a very hefty price.

Anything less and it will be a total travesty.

While I never loved this trade and don't feel great about the trade value, this is a drastic overstatement. If the Jets get into the playoffs in the next two years it will be worth it. That's all you can hope for. The rest is luck of the draw/match ups.

can still trade up for a QB if needed or take one in the 2nd and maybe draft someone like Hurts.
