Poll: How confident are you that Ashtyn Davis will be a good player?

All I know is that when vloggers are this hyped up about a midround pick that none of us ever heard of until the Jets drafted him, the guy always delivers.

I'm thinking bigger, faster, tougher version of Kerry Rhodes.  Rhodes took a lot of heat for not being tough.  He was a dynamite FS in pass defense for a guy picked in the 4th round.  He also started from day 1 and was durable.   He missed 2 game starts in his first 6 seasons.  I'll take that all day long.

I love everything I've read about him this offseason.  Obviously we have no idea yet if that will translate into actual games. 

But one thing we can be sure of is that he is fast and athletic.  That's a big change from what prior regimes have tried to do at Safety, and exactly the kind of player that other, successful NFL teams are acquiring to be FS/CB hybrids on their teams.

Before seeing him play guesses are meaningful?  I mean it all sounds good but I want to see it.  On a field.  Against players

I feel good about Ashtyn Davis. Hearing he soaks up info like a sponge, he’s extremely athletic & he’s a hard worker. 

haven’t seen him play yet but definitely optimistic about what can be.

Well I'm asking before we ever see him play a game because it will be more interesting (to me, at least) later on when we have an answer to the question.  e.g. if he turns out to be a very good player, we can say "we all expected it".

I mean, the bar is pretty low for him. I think he can get 60 tackles and a garbage time pick, which would make him an All Pro caliber player, if memory serves

I'm certainly hopeful, as I am with all young drafted players.

Why would I be confidant?  I've never seen him play a single snap of football, and certainly not at the NFL level.

I'm looking forward to seeing him, and all our players, on Sunday.

For what?

By all accounts hes a good kid who's a hard worker, is a willing learner, and comes from an extremely athletic background. Any number of things could happen and his career could disappoint, but to not have confidence in Davis is foolish. He's shown enough to give me confidence in his development.

He's showed up and has been practicing in a Jets uniform -- and people are still saying good things about him. That's a pretty good sign, usually by now our picks have pulled both hamstrings or haven't made a peep.

right now it will be great if he gets on the field and does well even only as a kick returner.  he's got enough size and speed.  he seems to have a gamer attitude.  how well he does depends on how well he wants to do.

I don't think so.  Afaik, he had the kickoff return where he tried to hurdle the defender and that was it.
