Popular Post chad2coles
Lots of rumors floating around right now about Russel Wilson getting traded to the Bears by tomorrow. Betting sites took down Wentz destination bets right before his trade to the Colts. Same for Watt. With the Jets owning their 1st rounder next year and the Bears as competition for Watson, I see this as big Jets news. Most importantly, Jamal Adams back to a losing team. Coukd be looking at a high SEA pick next year. 14 3

Beerfish
That would be a shocker. If it goes through then the Watson market is much closer to being set. Not sure what the Bears can offer that is so enticing, especially after what the hawks gave up for jamal.

Popular Post nycdan
Next thought....Bears are currently $17M over the cap. Wilson carries a $19M salary this season. Add in rookie pool and that's around $45M they need to clear give or take a few nickels. They can cut Jimmy Graham to save $7M and probably scrounge up another $3M in small name cuts. That's $10M They might be able to trade Akiem Hicks and save another $10.5M but I'm not sure anyone is going to want him at that cost. They could cut him otherwise and may have to. Still $25M short. They could trade Kyle Fuller which would save them $11M. Still $14M short. They can try to restructure their big contracts like Mack, Fuller, Quinn and Jackson to get the rest of the way, but it's going to be tricky since Quinn and Jackson are early in their deals. Or....they could trade ARob to the Jets (although Fuller might not be a bad plan B). Definitely going to be interesting to watch them try to make this work. 6

Popular Post win4ever
I would like to take a moment of silence for the impending doom faced by Jamal Adam's keyboard. It'll be interesting to see what they do there to be honest because I'm not sure what the course of action is without Wilson. Not like the Bears have anything interesting to give up at QB. That's a mid first round pick, and you would basically have to package anything and everything to get into the top 5ish for a QB. Free agency? Alex Smith? He doesn't really seem to fit their personnel, because both Metcalf and Lockett are much better deep ball threats than a Smith offense would work in. Newton? Brisset? Fitzpatrick? That's a weird situation where they can't really tear it down and rebuild when their own pick isn't there, and you have to assume the Bears picks have to be in the 20 range with Wilson on-board. Like what could the Bears give up to make it happen? Smith and picks? Smith, Fuller, and picks? That pick looks to be extremely valuable now, possible top 5 pick. Do they just tear it down? Trade Jamal? Trade Lockett? Never mind the whole trope about how they can't hit on first round picks anyway, might as well trade them. Do they trade everyone for 4th round picks? 4 1

doitny
im very shocked if this is true. just like Houston, i hope, Seattle should want a QB to replace Wilson. . i would think they would trade him to Miami for the 3rd pick to draft there own. Chicago only has Foles and late rd draft picks to offer. doesnt make sense

I don’t see how you give up a first ballot hall of famer qb in the prime of his career when he’s singlehandedly carried a mediocre team for years and is a top5 qb. Wilson must have videotapes of Pete to get that sort of leverage. 5

TokyoJetsFan
I think Russell Wilson's salary has one of the highest % of team cap hits in the league @ 17.5%...thats a huge number....Seattle might not get back as much as people think because they are getting that cap hit off the books.

I'm not sure why so many are overlooking this. I'll bet the draft pick compensation will sound lowball if it does happen. Better for us in dealing with Houston anyway.

Popular Post sourceworx
So in a year's time, Seattle gives up two first round picks for a box safety, then trades away their superstar QB. He doesn’t save gagillions this year - closer to $10M - but the 3 years after that his $25MM per gets removed as he’s entering his 30s (time will tell when it is he hits the wall). More than the cap savings, though, Chicago has to put something on the table. Their best trade assets are probably Mack and Allen Robinson, but Carroll is going to want secondary help (whether that’s who he can now draft, or he’s never been shy to forgo picks for players). Eddie Jackson sure, but I’m also thinking there’ll be other player(s) thrown in like Foles (Seattle’s not going to start Geno Smith or even have him penciled in as they enter the draft). They don’t have a million extra picks like the Jets. They’re just now getting 1st round picks back, but this year’s 1st would have to be part of the package no matter what else they’re giving up — Seattle doesn’t have any for the next couple years either hee hee. Point being, while picks will be what Seattle also needs, this trade would to have to be filled in with veterans. Both to make Seattle whole, and also so Chicago can make Wilson’s salary fit. Would be hilarious if, in an effort to complete a winning roster around Wilson, trading for Adams ultimately costs them Wilson. Enjoy Foles & Geno & a rookie.
More Cowbell
Chicago might be trading this years and next years first round picks for Wilson plus Foles. Foles would make an adequate place holder. With theb20th pick the Seahawks could take Jones or possibly Lance. Either way, Seattle pick traded to us looks a lot better. I love Jamal Adams.
