Arden Key (EDGE),

Young, cheap, rotational player on the rise with experience in the defensive scheme.

Rasheem Green (DT) and Jacob Martin (LB)

Im not so sure about that.

If you REALLY wanted to remake your secondary you could see a true box safety who can tackle like Whitehead being paired with Hamilton who would be deployed as the deep centerfielder where he can use his size to possibly make up for any lack of CB height on the team. This could also allow us to pass on an OLB early in the draft.

Hamilton - Jermaine Johnson - George Pickens - Ruckert/DT would kinda round out what we have done in FA.

I feel like with Pinnock showing well late in the season, Davis as a guy who’s at least a decent depth piece, Joyner as an insurance policy they obviously like after having him through camp last year, and now Whitehead they’ve got plenty at safety. I’d like to see Pinnock get a shot to start after spending an offseason working at safety.

And they have the rest of the draft to address safety too. Plus the big safeties who go early don’t exactly have the best track record, better to get the smaller CB/S tweener types. Hard to imagine 6’4 220 4.59 Hamilton covering some of the shiftier guys in the slot.

Id imagine we keep 5 safeties.

1. Someone not on roster

2. Whitehead

3. Joyner

4/5:  Let Riley, Davis and Pinnock fight it out

That would be a pretty experienced group.

As far as hamilton, I agree about him not being a guy who will cover the slot but given his size and alleged ball skills, he seems like the perfect deep centerfielder - to fill the Earl Thomas role in this defense.

Thomas was a CB/S tweener with cover skills and way more college ball production than Hamilton coming out. There have to be real questions about him as a jumbo guy with okay speed. Measurables aren’t everything but he would’ve been 12th of 24 in the linebacker group in the 40.

I also think they keep four instead of five and go heavier at corner. If they wanted to add another guy to compete they’d have the rest of the draft and a decent class.

With the flexibility that Douglas gave himself in the draft I wouldn't be shocked if

he takes a DT in the first two rounds.  There were quite a few who showed out

at the Senior Bowl & Combine
