I never did get the Giants hate. The Jets used to always beat them in the early 80’s. I attribute it to the bitter Mets fan mentality.

I’ll never forget, I was in a bar watching the 2007 Super Bowl and I saw several Jers fans rooting for the patriots to win and get their undefeated season. I couldn’t believe it. The patriots they were rooting for over the Giants. Insane

I never got how some Jets fans never did get the Giants hate.

Never understood why people hated the giants. I’m assuming for the people that do, it’s mostly due to interactions with their fans / friends that are fans of the team? Me being born and raised in FL, giants are one of those teams I don’t care about at all. Like the panthers, falcons, rams, or any other NFC team. I’ve recently rooted against the Bucs but that was because of Brady…only teams I actually root against are the bills, dolphins, pats.

The NY Giants were no friends to the Jets back when the Jets were at Shea and thereafter.  I'll let Henry give you the facts.  @hmhertz

I never root for the Giants, although I do wish they would’ve lost to a team other than the Eagles who I also despise. But for those of us that don’t remember the old AFL NFL rivalry ,
I hate the Giants because the Mara family did everything in their power to demean the Jets
during those years. I put up with tons of abuse from family and fans of the NYG for rooting for a mickey mouse team in a mickey mouse league.
I promised myself years ago as a teenager that going forward I would never root for the Giants. And to this day I always root for an original AFL team whenever they play an NFC
team. And that includes the Patriots in the 2 Super Bowls the Giants won.
And as far as the Jets always beating the Giants in the 1980s if you look over the record Jets won 2 Giants won 2 although we did knock them out of the playoffs on an O’Brien to Toon pass with almost no time left
in 1988.

Not going to lie, I usually don't gaf about them.  Unlike the Rangers who I despise.  I've become indifferent on the Yankees as well over the years(I used to hate them with a passion).

....BUT, I am glad I won't have to listen to this love affair on WFAN anymore.  The hype was getting out of control.  Listened to some late night show with some dude who sounded like a kid, talking all sorts of sh*t about the Eagles.  You'd think the Giants were SB favorites based on how these radio guys were talking.

That, and I want my Giants fans friends to join in my misery.  If I can't have nice things....  I already had to pretend to be excited for them twice when they beat the Pats, when in reality I was hoping for a power outage and a season cancellation.

my dad was a fierce anti giant, i think it stemmed from a dodgers/yankees thing.
myself i have a tie to the jets from him and thats always number one but i dont have
the giant hate as i watched both stumble through most of the 70's in tandem.
so i will root for them except v jets.

Couldn't have been more thrilled.  Between them and the Bills getting destroyed, it was truly great to see.

The Giants did a great job of coming together as a team, were coached up, and overachieved vs. a very low talent base.  Their schedule was relatively easy, they were 1-4-1 in their division, played the week AFC South, but played a lot of scrappy, tight games of which they won a bunch.  I give them a lot of credit but many people conveniently forget the facts that led to their successful season this year.

Now they have to pay the QB, start their rebuilding process (couldn't due to the salary cap issues, and upgrade the talent.  That's not easy to do, as Jets fans know all to well.  I would bet the Giants do not make the playoffs next year and will have a lot of challenges to take the next step up.

Sounds like you are a few years older than me, and I wonder if that makes a difference.  I was 7 years old when the Jets won SBIII.  Jets were my team and I never cared about the Giants.  Both teams were so bad through the 70s, that it didn't really matter to me what they did.  We sucked, they sucked.  Who sucked worse did not really matter.

I was actually happy for them in 86 when they beat Denver.  Maybe it was just knowing that you can suck for a decade and a half and still be able to put together a Championship team, but I have never really hated them.  They are just another team-- which is easy for me to say now, living in the Chicago area, but I felt the same way when I lived in NY.
