Aaron Rodgers to the Jets rumor: Merged

Everyone, including yourself, did not have Rodgers telling the Jets on Friday. On top of that, they didn't say the Packer and Jets agree to a trade. Which is true

I didn’t claim anything otherwise.  I found out Monday that he told them Friday.  The only person that had that information first and can make that claim is Wingo and the only claim that I can make is that I confirmed the same after Wingo tweeted it.

Andrew Brandt is a former GM of the Packers, which more than qualifies him to state his opinion. I subscribe to his newsletter and enjoy hearing his takes on the business side of the NFL. Sometimes he proves to be correct on his takes, while other times he is wrong. But he is always interesting. Are you saying anyone who is wrong is an Idiot? If so, then almost every one of us on this board is an idiot. We have all been wrong at times.

One more thing...

I agree JD would not be swayed by the fanbase. But Woody would, and he signs JD's paychecks. Just saying...

I don't think anyone's going to argue that we aren't all idiots.

Questions:

Can Rodgers continue speaking with the Jets (visit the facility, meet with coaches players, etc) if the deal is not done?

More specifically, was the permission granted by the Packers to speak with the Jets loaded with stipulations and/or time limits?

Because if once permission is granted, what's to stop Rodgers from continuing his dealings with the Jets?

Anyone have a clue how this works?

Theres a weird fascination on this board with tearing down people that provide information.  It's like people just live for telling you you're wrong when you volunteer up insider info.  It's wild honestly.

I guess this is why I rarely provide any of the information I get.  Even if you have an extremely reliable source or someone that is very well connected to sources, not everything we hear is always 100% accurate.  We just provide it as it is given and people can take it for what it's worth.  These nonsense tear downs of people that volunteer information is just petty and childish.

Post and leave, thats generally what I do.  Unless its the Draft forum where civil conversations can be had.

I wasn't trying to tear him down. I was trying to point out that multiple people heard similar information and no one was trying to tear down Aaron Rodgers or paint him in a negative light. Like you said, even if you have very well connected sources, the information isn't always going to be 100% infallible. Especially when it's like he said, she said.

great questions. Not sure how that works as the rules are vague. I cannot imagine the Packers giving him permission to speak with the Jets is a carte blanche for an entire offseason of meeting with the team whenever and wherever. But who knows how it works

Is there any chance the league gets involved and pushes to get this done sooner rather than later? While for cap purposes it actually benifits the Pack to push this off till June 1 there is now talk abut networks competing  to get Jets/Rodgers and speculation regarding prime time games wouldnt the league want this done well in advance of the schedule release in early May?

Since you refuse to just google and cant seem to fathom why people dont trust the media, especially someone like Aaron Rodgers.

Here are 25 articles that took me 5 minutes to find. Trashing him from everything from Covid, Dating, Family Life, and even Haircuts. All of them based off of opinion and skewed to the world at large as fact.

There are 25 more from ESPN if you really want me to link all of them for you.

But I figured you had enough reading material from multitudes of other websites, since you know, theres not an effort to paint him in a bad light or anything.

People disagreeing with him doesn't mean hes being painted in a bad light. It's someone's opinion. You think there are no people who have supported Rodgers in the media? You're delusional. He has support too.

But go ahead, link the ESPN ones since you think any criticism of Rodgers is unwarranted, or better yet NO ONE CAN CRITICIZE RODGERS.

not that i think the league will push to get this deal done sooner rather than later, but do you really think the league would NOT want aaron rodgers playing in NY???  what would be their incentive to wanting to see a NY team not get one of the highest profile players in the sport?  some conspiracy against the jets or something???

I’m only going to address this once, and then I’m done with getting dragged into “sources” BS.  Schefter and Rapp do this as a job; I do not.  The ridiculous temper tantrums they and their respective networks have gone on since they were told, by Aaron himself, to f*ck off, is not the same as me passing something I heard along and commenting on it as a fan.

I had heard Monday, post Wingo tweet, when he said that it was done, was that Rodgers has agreed to come here, and the compensation was agreed upon as of Friday, they were waiting on Aaron to make it official.  I posted that here.  What we now know is that Rodgers told both teams Friday as well.  I don’t know what the current situation is, but reading the tea leaves, it appears that Green Bay is trying to alter an already established deal because the Jets don’t have a FA QB to turn to.

The Jets and GB have been playing chicken for at least two weeks.  The Jets have the better position.  It goes like this.

If GB does not accept a reasonable trade offer:

1. The Jets go with Zach Wilson, a better line (draft) and more weapons and no cap or money issues.

2. The Packers have to eat 60 million dollars, mess up their time table with Jordan love and also wind up with the biggest mal-content in league history messing up their mojo and on top of that, they done get ANY draft picks from the Jets.

If I was JD, I would hold out until GB agreed to take a set of steak knives.  Not kidding.  I would not give them anything more than a number three.  It will probably wind up being a number two this year and conditional next year, but if JD wants to play hard ball, he can have it his way all the way.

I'd have my back channel leakers getting that out to GB right now.

We can do without Rodgers and you CANT do with him.

"It's someone's opinion"

And this is where the problem is... the media has consistently disguised their "opinions" as facts, beyond just Aaron Rodgers.

At this point you're so dug in on your position whilst claiming to not be white knighting for sports journalists, that one can only logically assume you work in media yourself or used to and you're actually Manish Mehta.

So until proven otherwise, you're either Manish, Florio, or Francessca. Nothing will change my mind save 5 verified pieces of physical evidence.

Yeah, you're not seeing the entire situation at all.

You realize that GB has even more at stake right? Because he didn't retire they NEED him traded. They are on the hook to guarantee him another 60 mil this spring if he is on their roster. At the same time, mind you, they have to exercise the 5th year option on their 1st round QB that has never even played yet. Jets have all the leverage in this situation because GB needed him to retire and no other team has shown interest. If there was a bidding war it would be different. But there isn't, they have 1 viable option right now and that's why the Jets have the leverage. They are not in a position to get full or even fair value for him. They are in a position where, at worst case, they would need to give up picks just to have another team take on his contract because him being on their roster this spring completely f*cks them. They can't keep him and they can't cut him. Trading him is the only way they get out of this situation and that's why they have no leverage at all.

his darkness comment of 90% retired but now fully committed says - GB i am not retiring, you going to pay me to sit on the bench.
