August
Washington is more than likely drafting a QB so they’ll probably be open to trading Howell. He’s still young and he showed some promise this year. Him sitting behind Rodgers for a year or two wouldn’t be a bad thing. 1 1 1

PS17
He’s a backup. Can push the ball down the field and rack up yards but his pocket presence and decision making aren’t good.

So merely a significant improvement to our current QB room. 2

Matt39
Another guy who takes a bazillion sacks. Nick Mullens should be a target.

rangerous
I think their best bet is to get a guy like brissett and then promise he’ll get a hard look as a starter once Rodgers quits. Brissetts been around and is still looking for a starting job. He’s been pretty durable and can throw the ball pretty well. I don’t see them getting any good qb to sit for two seasons while waiting for Rodgers. I suspect that’s something that might have turned Douglas away from wentz or Winston. Winston might be an idea because he’s probably patient with regard to where his next starting job may be, if any. I think that’s one of the problems with drafting QBs in the first round. They get paid quite a bit but really don’t become good until they’ve sat for a season or two. When they come off their rookie deals, if they haven’t got a starting job, they can afford to be patient. That means taking some backup jobs and choosing the right situation for them.

peekskill68
Quite honestly there are a lot of good back up QB options that are UFA's next year: Brissett, Taylor, Winston, Bridgewater, Minshew to name a few. There's no reason why JD can't find someone at a reasonable number to man the fort if Rodgers goes down.

We don't have a second rounder and have too many holes to fill to give up resources for a guy we hope never plays. 3
Hex
Howell is garbage. Jets should pursue better options, like Minshew or Brissett. 2
AFJF
Loved Howell at UNC. If he can be had for pennies on the dollar I'd do it.
Gibby
Minshew definitely should be the guy.
MR.GANGGREEN28
Our QB room should be Rodgers, a rookie, and a reliable backup vet. If Howell is one of the better options for that backup role and it’s a good fit then sure I’m not opposed to it.

Rangers9
There was a rumor a few days ago: Zach and a 5th rounder for Howell. But they are in the process of changing their org.
GreenFish
As a backup, he’s good. Jets need to draft a QB in the mid rounds regardless of what they do with QB2. QB3 should be a developmental guy.

NYJCAP2
He has some talent, but is careless. The Jets need a backup who can play ball control and distribute.
rex-n-effect
Why do you think WAS wants to move on from a cheap and capable backup? Makes a lot more sense to keep Howell (and maybe Brissett) and let them battle it in camp.

Adoni Beast
I would assume Washington keeps him since he's cheap on a rookie deal with starting experience while they get Caleb or Maye ready.

GreenFish
I wouldnt mind Howell as QB2. I would still draft a QB though. We need to keep throwing darts. QB1: Rodgers QB2: Howell QB3: Jordan Travis (draft in the 4th) Depends on the comp for Howell though.
Tooooon
All of the backups mentioned in this thread suck, but we need one. I just don’t want to trade a draft pick, so no to Howell.
