Report: Jets to Reduce Hackett Role

This is ridiculous.  Just clean house.  Get rid of Saleh who is clearly over his head. Get rid of Hackett.  Hire a seasoned head coach who will bring in a qualified offensive coordinator to run this offense.  I’d be happy with Vrabel at HC and Frank Reich as OC.

Although theoretically the Jets would be admitting defeat to the journalists, at this point there would appear to be no hope for next season.

How are they scouting players at the Senior Bowl will all this stuff going on?

There is no confidence in any of the staff, front office or coaching.  There is absolutely no way that the Jets will be able to fill their gaping holes with the players they need.

The only hope really would be to clean it out now.

I thought we already had that with Rodgers? Hackett builds the offensive scheme and Rodgers does whatever he wants in the games. Adding another input seems like it's adding confusion, not taking it away.

This seems like they want to fire Hackett, but they don't want to install a new offense or worry about friction between Rodgers and a new OC. Hackett demoted to an administrative role overseeing the playbook while somebody else comes in to run the team using Hackett's playbook. What halfway decent OC wants to come in do that role? Probably another coach promoted well above his experience and expertise.

The start of the offseason has been:

-Saleh is pathetic

-The Jets are admitting their OC stinks

-We desperately need to upgrade the OL and WRs

But it was all ZW's fault!!!

Most of us want to replace the entire coaching staff and front office and some want to trade/cut Aaron Rodgers before we even see him play a game

Very few would say that this season was all Zach Wilson’s fault.

So we have a guy that sucks at his job so instead of finding someone good at it, we are looking for a babysitter.

This is the kiss of death in the corporate world. I suspect he'll be completely sidelined, at least I hope so, without outright saying so (because of Rodgers' imprimatur)

Now I see Saleh's vision. He's going to elevate Woody to offensive playcaller, give him a sippy cup and a fake headset. Woody will be busy and Rodgers will call all the plays at the line. If it works out, Woody will feel like a special boy. If it doesn't work out, Woody will fire Hackett for coming up with a bad playbook.

Robert Saleh has explored adding to the offensive staff and creating a more collaborative play-calling process that would reduce Hackett’s role

Wouldn't happen to be Ben Johnson secretly, would it?

This is the beginning of the end, just fire the guy and if Rogers bitch about it scrap the whole thing!

This fiasco has the fingerprints of Woody all over it.

AR8 won MVP two years in a row with Hackett as his "OC."  One would think that could work again, although its possible the AR8 could need more actual offensive coordination in his older state, or maybe the NFL is now onto AR8.  What little we saw of him last year  did not look too great.

If AR8 goes down again, someone besides Hackett is going to need to call the plays.  So maybe that is how plays will be called-AR8 will call his own plays, and [Todd Downing] calls the plays for whomever else plays QB.

This is just looking like a giant mess already.

Hope a lot of you guys get this  whining out of the way the next few months.

Don't act surprised when this offense starts humming next season.  Just offer up your Mea Culpas and hop on the A train.

Woody made a huge mistake by not firing everyone this offseason.  We are just delaying the inevitable.

Are jd and saleh heading into lame duck seasons?

Like, is Hackett the only coach that Rodgers could work with? Rodgers x Arthur Smith or Rodgers x Harbaugh would be interesting collabs.

Problem with cleaning house is it's possibly a better the devil you know than the devil you don't know thing.

Who do you give the HC job to? You would assume it's going to be the singular point of contact with Rodgers, and "play calls" even though Rodgers will be largely calling that.

You could have fired Saleh and brought in Harbaugh to work with Rodgers and this defense /ST and bring in whomever he wants. Give him total control.

The OC will be a Rodgers/Hackett combo with probably Rodgers having final say similar to what they had in GB. And we're reading reports that the Packers HC wasn't really happy with that arrangement. As a matter of fact the team wanted Rodgers out. And were willing to commit to an unproven QB as starter. And the guy is pretty good.

And they got a great pick out of it.
