What about DE Michael Sam

The Jets could use a situational edge pass rusher.

Cowboys waived DE Michael Sam from the practice squad.

Sam had been with the Cowboys' taxi squad since before Week 1, but never earned a promotion to the 53-man roster. The NFL's first-openly gay player will now search for more practice-squad work. Sam notched three sacks in four preseason games, but his size (6-foot-2, 261 pounds) and one dimensional pass-rushing repertoire are holding him back.

We need a rusher but it appears he's more of a catcher.

Had to.

We have the most sacks in the league. Not worth it.

Why do they need a situational edge pass rusher?  They have Babin and Barnes.  They have two developmental players who they picked ahead of Sam.  Oh, and the guy has been on the practice squad and could have been signed at any time.

Yeah. He was totally stealing the spotlight in Dallas.

You don't think this would be a 24/7 story with the NYDN, NYP, SNY, WFAN, etc?

Not only is it an unnecessary distraction for a team that needs one like they need a hole in the head, but he also has no position in the NFL - he's too small for a DE and too slow for a LB. Why waste the roster spot to begin with?

The practice squad isn't a roster spot. He wouldn't be a distraction and if he was it's only because terrible writes have nothing else to write about because the team is terrible.

We are 1-6 the waiver wire is where we need to look for help what the guy does off the field shouldn't be an issue if he can play the game.

If he could play the game he wouldn't be released from 2 PS's.

If he could play even a Little bit one of the teams would keep him just to shop how open minded they are.

He's out of work because he's not a good NFL prospect. You could argue that he was only on a practice squad because of what he does off the field. I wish the kid well. Maybe he can latch on in the CFL or Arena ball.
