I didn't realize he hadn't been drafted. He'd be a nice pickup.

Cowboys selected Alabama RB Bo Scarbrough with the No. 236 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Scarbrough (6’1/228) was ticketed to succeed Derrick Henry as the Crimson Tide’s power back, but fell short of expectations due to injuries. He turned pro after a 267/1,512/20 career rushing line, averaging 5.7 yards per carry with only 21 receptions. Scarbrough fractured his leg at the end of his sophomore season and wasn’t nearly as efficient last year. He did test as an 86th-percentile SPARQ athlete with 4.52 speed and a 40-inch vertical at the Combine. Always a talented two-down runner, Scarbrough is arriving to the NFL about a decade late. His ceiling is a committee back and/or short-yardage/goal-line specialist.

Wow on Luvu.  I like the way he plays. Wish more guys played like this!

As for Luvu, Draft Scout has his 40-yard dash time listed at 4.84 seconds, while pointing out that he's 6-foot-2, 235 pounds. He'll more than likely wind up as a mid-to-late round pick in the draft.

Interestingly, Austin Gayle of Pro Football Focus pointed out the impressive versatility that Luvu showed throughout his final two seasons at Washington State. In 2016, he played as an off-ball linebacker on 54.08 percent of his defensive snaps, then played 91.62 percent of his snaps at EDGE in 2017.

That versatility alone should explain the interest from the Raiders and specifically defensive coordinator Paul Guenther. It seems to this point Gruden and company have opted to use their pre-draft visits primarily on prospects who are expected to go in the middle or late rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Via Tony Pauline:

Update: The Washington State workout is complete and results are coming in.

Linebacker Frank Luvu, graded as a priority free agent before the season, timed 4.79 in the 40 and 6.97s in the three-cone and completed 21 reps on the bench press. Luvu, who looked good in drills, has official visits set up with the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders.

This is what I noticed

"Moved to more of a pass-rushing role than just hanging back, Washington State benefited from sending him on the attack as he racked up a respectable 12.0 tackles for a loss with 6.5 sacks"

maybe something to work with/develop

Thank you. I was at a party yesterday and missed most of the draft starting with the mid 4th round. Trying to day to play catch up.

Good stuff, thanks for posting. Seems like a developmental tackle prospect with traits. Definitely wanted one brought in.

Shepley looks like an interesting sign. He's mobile. Just gotta see what he looks like pushing guys who aren't half your size...

Jets FO does NOT place high priority on OLine under the new scheme.

The main resource for restocking our OLine talent is through UDFA & UFA; only validates that PHILOSOPHICALLY the Jets prefer Cheaper Agile Fatties to take up space in an offensive Zone Blocking scheme.

OLine is NOT a priority due to cost and probably because LESS college OLine can actually block adequately bought for the Pro game.

Those of you blowing a gasket over NOT drafting OLine are being irate over nothing. The system does not necessitate high investment in OLine. Will it work, we shall see? It did in Denver in the late 90's.

If the plan is to run a zone blocking scheme, then it's not merely a matter of drafting a big body in there as for a power scheme.  There were decent options at 3 an at 4. Obviously Orlando Brown is not right for a zone blocking scheme, so no complaints on passing on him, but there were others.

If we're going Zone blocking, what would be wrong with Tony Adams.  He's got above average footwork and some experience at Center as well.  Guy had a mid-round grade on him.  Unless there's something NFL spycraft turned up on him, it's odd that he's unsigned.

Edit: Well nevermind.  JAX got him :(

Now that the 2018 NFL Draft is complete, the Jets are signing undrafted free agents. (Current Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson was once one of these guys.) See below for a list of undrafted free agents the Jets have signed so far, plus scouting reports on them, as compiled from various reports.

Dimitri Flowers is one of the more notable undrafted free agents the Jets signed this year.

FB DIMITRI FLOWERS, OKLAHOMA

Height: 6-2

Weight: 248 pounds

FLOWERS SCOUTING REPORT

From NFL.com: Flowers may be viewed by some teams as a luxury, but he's the type of luxury item that will pay for itself over time. Flowers could be an early starter thanks to his ability to plug into so many roles for teams operating out of a variety of personnel groupings.

OL AUSTIN GOLSON, AUBURN

Height: 6-5

Weight: 312 pounds

(Source

GOLSON SCOUTING REPORT

From NFL.com: Golson is one of the coaches' favorites in Auburn thanks to his intelligence, leadership and versatility. He could be graded as either a guard or center and his position flexibility gives him a shot to find a practice squad his rookie season. He lacks athletic ability and power so it is hard to envision him becoming anything more than a back-end of the roster type at best.

OL DARIUS JAMES, AUBURN

Height: 6-4

Weight: 324 pounds

(Source

JAMES SCOUTING REPORT

From DraftAnalyst.com: Underrated guard prospect ignored in scouting circles. Has a thick, powerful build, squares into defenders and seals them from the action. Sets with a wide base, works to bend his knees and anchors at the point. Gets movement as a run blocker and drives defenders off the line. Stiff, immobile and struggles to adjust and block in motion. Slow out to the second level. Plays with average balance. James is a powerful wide-bodied blocker with enough ability to back up at guard in a power-running offense.

ILB TRE' WILLIAMS, AUBURN

Height: 6-2

Weight: 225 pounds

(Source

WILLIAMS SCOUTING REPORT

From NFL.com: Williams lacks some size, is an average athlete and may not have enough play speed to range around the field and make tackles. Despite his shortcomings, he's a physical player with the ability to take on blocks or slip them and he has enough special teams talent that he could eventually find a spot in the league as a backup inside backer.

OL DAKODA SHEPLEY, UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

Height: 6-5

Weight: 290 pounds

(Source

MORE TO KNOW ABOUT SHEPLEY

From 3DownNation.com: Shepley, who played his university football at the University of British Columbia, worked out at Eastern Michigan University’s pro day it’s within 50 miles of where he graduated from Holy Names High School in Windsor, ON. More than 20 NFL teams saw him there and that helped raise his stock. The UBC product was a 2017 Canada West all-star at right tackle and won a Vanier Cup with the Thunderbirds in 2015.

K CANON ROOKER, MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE

Height: 5-11

Weight: 190 pounds

(Source

MORE TO KNOW ABOUT ROOKER

From Middle Tennessee State (2017 bio): Named Honorable Mention All-C-USA. Played in all 13 games. Finished the year 14-for-17 on field goals and was an impressive 7-for-7 from 45 yards or longer. Became the first kicker in school history to hit two or more field goals of 50 yards or longer in the same season. Had a career-best 37 touchbacks on 67 kickoffs for a personal-best 63.3-yard average.

DE NIFAE LEALAO, VANDERBILT

Height: 6-5

Weight: 312 pounds

(Source

MORE TO KNOW ABOUT LEALAO

From Vanderbilt (2017 bio): Lealao earned starts in 11 of 12 games in his final year as the Commodores' top interior defensive tackle... While facing constant double-team blocks, finished with 23 total tackles, a single-season high... Also posted eight solo stops, four tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries and three deflected passes... Registered a season-high five tackles against Kentucky... Had three stops and returned a fumble for 15 yards against Georgia... Also contributed multiple tackles against Alabama A&M, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Missouri.

Another #NFLDraft and another "Lost Round" of underclassmen that were not selected and could have boosted their stock for 2019. 70 of 106 were picked, but only 41 in top 3 rounds, meaning that 65 went 4th or later. Earlier communication and education is a must b/t #CFB and #NFL.

UDFA’s here’s some tips to help make the 53 man roster

-You can’t do what the draft picks do. Especially the high draft picks. They can afford to mess up in practice you can’t, you will get cut ASAP!

So when they wanna go out on the weekend. NOPE! pic.twitter.com/PmtJmCK0gW

Yup.  He was our Mr Irrelevant.

And when you talk about Ivy Leaguers, don't forget my fellow Penn alum (more likely soon to be alum), Justin Watson who went to Tampa in the 5th.

How did the guy we signed below go undrafted?. Unless he either played at the lowest level of competition or had a serious injury.

The #Jets have signed LB Frankie Luvu as a UDFA.

Luvu had 48 Tackles, 6.5 TFL, 12 Sacks, 1 PD, 2 INT, 2 FR, and 1 TD last year as a senior at Washington State. Could be a steal for the Jets.

Actually, Luvu had 6.5 sacks and 12 TFL last year shown in Bio below, but still seems like a heck of an Edge rusher prospect.

He is 6ft 3 and 235lbs, so I would say he isn't smallish. Hope he makes the team as a 3rd down specialist since we have no edge rush to say the least.

Was thinking the same thing, the closing speed is impressive. Will be looking for him come pre-season.

Luvu is an awesome signing. He reportedly put up a 6.97 three-cone at his pro day, which would have been third-best among EDGE guys and ninth-best among linebackers at the Combine. It really feels like we’re finally going after serious athletes on defense.

He looks FAST on tape. A lot of our D does now. If we looked back to the Rex Ryan days, our D is so much different now.

I saw his cone time at 7.03 which is still very good, but counting pro day numbers plenty of LB prospects were better. His change of direction must be very good, his 3-cone and shuttle times were excellent, but his jumps (29" vert and 9.17 broad) were below pedestrian.  I saw him pegged at ILB.  I don't think that a 235 lb EDGE is a thing.  Should be an excellent special teamer.

Yeah, pro days are always inflated. I didn't even bother checking the vert or broad numbers, because at 235 he'd have to be Superman to hit any of the metrics, and I figure he has to be a twitch guy rather than a power guy anyway. I imagine they're looking at him for ILB/STs too, and frankly he's a longshot to make the team at all. My excitement isn't in Luvu as a player per se; more that he signals an intention to bring in legit athletes rather than slugs like Mauldin and Burris.
