Popular Post MysticalJet2
I just don't get all the crazy gushing about the pro day. Ok he has a strong arm, but this whole thing was choreographed for weeks (months?) before the pro day. It was toss and catch and that's it. I had to stop watching because the announcers were making me sick on how they gush over him. And when he made an errant throw, it was someone else's fault. There is a whole bunch more data to go on from real games. This doesn't mean I think he is not a good player worth #2... just saying lets come back to earth a bit. 5

Flea Flicking Frank
Such over analysis on QB’s. Surround a QB who has the necessary physical tools to play, with talent, get a coach who knows how to setup a QB to succeed, and most QBs will perform well. Put poor talent or a sh*t coach with any non HOF QB and they will look bad. It’s really that simple.

Popular Post Shockwave
17 hours ago, maury77 said: So I wanted to actually watch the pro day before posting in this thread. Good Wilson made some breathtaking throws. The pass down field while running left was a great throw. Good accuracy. I charted 46 out of 60 throws being accurate (this doesn't mean 46 of 60 throws were completed, I gave him credit for accurate throws that were dropped and knocked him for catches with bad ball placement). Bad I know he weighed in at 214 today, but it looks like it was bad weight. I saw him catching his breath on a couple of occasions. I think the line about tweaking his hamstring to not do any athletic testing was BS (he certainly didn't seem to be limping during any of his throws). I think his team knew the added weight would would negatively affect his testing, so they made up the hamstring BS. Some of the responses to this post were really funny. I really thought this was a great and fair post. Literally went through 15 pages in this thread for fair feedback on how his Pro Day was going as I was unable to watch. Btw how great was that weather yesterday? The best reads on the site are when Fields Fans give a fair take on Wilson or vice versa. Also in reading this site for the past month or so its so crazy that fans are so polarized on Wilson vs Fields and there seems to be a very high chance that perhaps the best offensive mind in the NFL (Kyle Shanahan) may have just traded a crazy amount of assets for Lance/Mac who none of us have really talked about much. I watched the Pro Day and I was a-little disappointed. That throw he made when moving to his left only a few NFL QB's make. A few of his deep throws I think would be Elite in the NFL. But When you have a month to work on the same routine I would expect more accuracy on many of these throws. Also his mechanics concern me big time. To me its like watching Josh Donaldson's swing. Some of those throws he's literally throwing with no feet on the ground. How can someone be consistently accurate with so many moving parts? I think the only person I have seen do it is Mahomes. So what happens when he throws interceptions in the NFL. Does he become more hesitant to take deep chances downfield? Bc that is essentially why we are drafting him. Im absolutely fine if we take Zach but I am personally really hoping we trade down with the Panthers. There really is a chance the Panthers Panic after yesterday. I think those moves trades screwed them and there is a chance they get no QB this year. With Watsons situation I feel like that Front office is going to be looking at their board today and thinking they need to be talking to the Jets. We match up really well with them. We have the cap space to take on Bridgewater's contract if we need to. We can include Crowder if they want to replace Samuel in the slot. Lastly when you look at the board Atlanta likely wont trade for them as it's the same division. Cincy is not passing on Sewell. Miami traded to 6 for a reason. Then Detroit is a threat to take a QB if one falls or could possibly trade back to Denver/NE so its a real threat that there not getting any QB this year. If there is ever a team desperate to trade up it will be them. Hoping a deal gets done with them. There should be alot of smoke with them and the Jets the next 2 weeks. Joe Douglas is not a guy thats going to pass on a overwhelming offer. I think the trades yesterday put the Panthers in a position where they kind of need to make that type of offer. On The Jets side the Miami trade yesterday should really hit people hard that the Bills and Dolphins are going to be problems for a long time. Add in The Pats and this could be the toughest division in Football soon. Zach Wilson is not going to solve this. Take the draft picks and build this team. 9

choon328
It is very clear that 90% of you don't know what scouts, gms and coaches are looking for at a pro day. They want to see arm strength, accuracy, dexterity, fluidity, how they interact with the WRs before and after the play. How they interact with the coach leading the pro day. Are they having fun or are they too intense. Arm motion, their eyes, hip movement in the pocket. Anticipating WR breaks. All of these things the scouts, gms and coaches know the answer to prior to the pro day. They just want to see it in person to confirm it. The Jets have already spoken to him multiple times over zoom, they already did board work with him over zoom. They've already talked to everybody he knows, all of his ex coaches and a lot of his teammates to find out about his character. All of this has been done well before the pro day. His pro day was a homerun and confirmed everything that was already seen on tape all year. He will be the pick at 2 for the Jets. The height issue for a QB in the nfl is no longer an issue. He could be 5'10" and it would matter very little. That issue was put to bed years ago with Russell Wilson. The "weight" issue, if there is one, will be addressed and solved once he gets into an NFL weight training program.

That’s right in his guy’s pocket bro. Easy completion & insanely hard pass. I'm not saying Wilson's arm isn't potentially something special , but the guy was throwing w/o shoulder pads and w/o a pass rush.
