Q's 2022 uptick has more to do with Joe Douglas than any 'contract year' nonsense.

DJ Reed, Sauce, Lawson, JFM, Jermain, Clemons, and a few others all work to make Q's job so much easier.

DJ/Sauce/Joyner/Whitehead forcing QBs to hold the rock a bit longer helps Q and the rest of our front 4.

Lawson/JFM/Jermain/Huff and Clemons coming off the edge gives O-lines much more to think about than just dbl/trpl teaming Q every play.

With real outside pass rush and Q up the middle, QBs no longer have anywhere to hide, especially when they have to hold the ball and extra second due to Reed/Sauce on the back end.

Joe Douglas has created a perfect storm and has taken our Defense from drop dead last to top 10+. Probably the biggest jump of any unit in the entire league! Go Joe! Go Q!

Worth mentioning: How good is Q's big brother!!!! I remember when Q got drafted #3, there was talk of his older brother Quincy hoping to get drafted too. Now he's on the Jets, and someone is really coaching up this kid. He's becoming a young CJ Mosely. Another feather in JD's cap.

I always felt that players do much better with at least competent players around them because they stop trying to do too much to compensate for the flaws and poor performance of others.

The PFF pod is supposedly going to discuss the Quinnen grade on today’s episode. If I had to guess, they’re going to say that his pressures were the product of Green Bay’s OL not handling stunts and blitzes, and Rodgers holding the ball. Their grading system awards +1’s and +2’s based on special plays where you beat your blocker and how quickly you do it. If—as Saleh is implying here (and Aaron Rodgers implied in his McAfee appearance)—some of Quinnen’s pressures came on OL inefficiency, it’s going to suppress the score.

I've been no fan of QW.  Hated the pick, haven't loved his play before this year..

But he's been a legit impact player this year - and truly dominant last week.

Even if there are some miscommunications on OL - his speed and strength allowed him to burst through.

Regardless of PFF's scoring system - he's playing elite level football right now, let's hope he keeps it up.

Absolutely. I just looked at which IDLs they graded higher than Quinnen, and it was guys like Chris Jones, Derrick Brown, Dexter Lawrence, and Zach Seiler(?). Definitely some blind spots in how they grade that position.

It was a great performance worthy of praise, and to be honest it was about ******* time he had a clearly dominant game like that. It wasn't just that he had sacks. He was consistently disruptive, and more importantly a game changer for once. If he does that consistently that would be just super, and quell any notion that he isn't worthy of his draft position (eventual big contract).

2023 Cap - Top 10 guys (as of now).  Highlighted the defenders in green.

There's some flexibility but we need that Mosley money to roll off ASAP.  It's an anchor right now.

QW and Sauce seem like the guys you build this Defense around.  Would be fantastic if Jermaine Johnson emerges in the next year or two during his rookie contract so that the Jets have some options with Lawson, JFM, etc.

When would that not be the case? I mean, every time Aaron Donald creates pressure, isn't that by definition going to be an example of OL "inefficiency?" This is completely bogus.

Jets Twitter bullied PFF into changing Quinnen’s grade

Changing results to correct mistakes is typically frowned upon in this country. lol Just shows you how subjective this crap is and how bad PFF's models are.  Are they admitting Jets bias?  They reviewed it and graded it low, probably out of habit... and then changed it once everyone pointed out they were wrong.

Depending on what else they feel they need to do this offseason they may elect to designate him post-6/1 so the rest of his restructure doesn’t all hit in ‘23. The rest is inevitable, as that $ was supposed to come off this year, but they needed another LT and it’s hard to argue with Brown’s signing.

JFM and especially Lawson will have to continue to produce without tailing off. Frankly Tomlinson, too. But the Jets just drafted two DEs, not two guards. If both veterans stick next year it could be as much a reflection on the rookies not living up to expectations by year’s end as it is that both veterans are playing lights-out. Time will tell, but it’d surprise me if both returned now that the guaranteed $ is all in the past.

JFM can have a great year and still not be back next year. So much depth on this line. Lawson or JFM, they aren't going to pay both of them next year.

This is literally what happened.

It wasn't just some random analyst making a mistake. Some of those arrogant f*cks were on Twitter defending it during the week and saying that they were "mostly cleanup" stats. Just laughable.

They're not transparent about their process and they only caved here because Jets fans being so vocal was causing them so much embarrassing. Jets fans had already been hounding them for their take on Breece Hall so this really legitimised their claims of incompetence. This is definitely not a bad grade in isolation even if they'll try and spin it that way.

This defense is pretty good, They are a dominant LB from being special.
