All I'm hoping for is alot of fun, a competative season right up to (and hopefully beyond) the final week of the season, and competent NFL-quality QB play. Something we haven't had much of the last 12 years, outside of 2015. Sometimes you have to say "the way we have tried hasn't worked, we need to change to a more radical approach". This is that radical approach. Can it explode in the faces of the Jets? Oh, hell yes it can. But, I still like to watch clips of the Hindenburg crashing along with the huge manatee exclamations. It should at least be entertaining. And, the stock of Jetnation just increased another three fold. 5

It should at least be entertaining. And, the stock of Jetnation just increased another three fold. This move, presuming it happens, does two things, and doesn't do one vital thing: 1. It DOES provide the Jets with objectively solid QB play. For a short time, yes, but for the first time since 2015, and the best since 2010 at least. Outside of injury, the worst case is likely close to the all-time best season for a Jets QB (literally, Rodgers down 2022 season would have been 4th best in our history!) 2. It DOES provide JD/Saleh time and breathing room, to try and win now, while having a longer window to address QB for the long-term. 3. It DOES NOT mean we're going to have to give up Sauce, or G. Wilson, or QW, or AVT or our other young talent core. We will have time to sign them too when the time comes, and to draft more between now and then. 4. It also DOES NOT save Zach Wilson......but it does give him a 1-2 year opportunity to save his own career. If he does so will be on him, this is about as perfect a 2nd chance as he was ever going to get. 10

How much compensation do the Jets give up vs how much GB is willing to accept. Right now GB has the power to delay the signing and most likely screw up free agency for the Jets with an unsettled QB situation . Not optimal No actually it doesn't screw up FA, because he publicly announced it and he could really **** GB over if they don't get it done and the Jets have more money to move around for the moment
RoadFan
I listened to Aaron Rodgers on Pat McAfee show and am sure there are other takes in the thread, but here is mine. AR said the Jets knew he wants to play for them on Friday. Said the delay is that the Packers are digging in their heels on compensation. He mentioned being an MVP a couple of times and sounded butthurt about how the Packers handled wanting to move on from him to Jordan Love. “There’s a right way to do things and a wrong way.” I don’t know if he wanted a red carpet on the way out the door or what? My take: We already knew he is a smug guy, this interview confirmed it again. However, he is not wishy washy about wanting to play for the Jets. He did not give the Jets a list of demands, he discussed a few teammates and described their value. That about sums it up… 1

Everyone knows it's happening. Likely before the draft. Everyone knows Rodgers will be a Jet. Dragging this out hurts the Packers more than us. Only way the Jets would lose the leverage here is if another NFL team jumped in on the Rodgers' sweepstakes in the 11th hour. Maybe that's what GB is hoping for. But Rodgers saying publicly his intent is to play for the Jets, even if he's not being 100 % truthful about that, doesn't help things for GB.
