don't forget Paul Crane.

I actually met Mr. Crane several times.  He's from my hometown of Mobile, Alabama.  He let me wear his Super Bowl ring.  He passed a couple of years back.  Wonderful man.

I am assuming when the Jets told him to take a straight out pay cut, he said no, then they waited to see the linebacker market told him he’s worth.

When you add his void year cap hits I’m curious to see what the average is per year with the new money added and this year‘s cap spread out.

I’m interested to see. He had over $10M left in signing bonus money already paid to count against the cap over the next three years. That can’t be just “ripped up.” I guess they could move some voidables down the road (again), though.

Could Bobby Wagner at $5m been a better use of resources and not require a 2nd year?

Bobby Wagner's illustrious career will include a new stop in 2024: Washington. He's better than CJ

The veteran linebacker is signing with the Commanders on a one-year deal worth up to $8.5 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source. Rapoport adds that Wagner's contract includes $6 million guaranteed.

Didn’t Wagner only leave his home in Seattle to reunite with Quinn?

PFF grades aren't the be-all end-all but this matches the eye test. Mosely has been very good for the Jets the past 2 years (boneheaded line-jump aside), he just hasn't been "17M/year good." At 17M per, Mosely needed to be a dominator/game wrecker, not just "very very good, one of the best at his position"

At 8.5M per year, "very very good, one of the best at his position" is just fine

2 year 18 million is 9 per ?

if that’s the case Mosley took a huge paycut considering the old deal was a cash payout of 17 million just this year

If I’m reading this correctly it’s about a 50% paycut if they did rip it up and it replaces this year

As much as I love this, just would have loved to get this done last Sunday just to have the ammo. JD hasn’t signed a day 1 free agent since he’s been here but it would have made sense to have the opportunity of something broke.

Positive:
Step in the right direction because it’s a sizable pay cut.  Almost $4M guaranteed savings and his previous 2024 salary ($17M) is converted to total total pay for the next 2 years.

Negative:
Mosley is slower and slower to the ball.  I personally think he’s a liability on 3rd downs.  The Jets were poor on 3rd down last year due to Mosley and Whitehead.  One was slow to the ball, the other couldn’t tackle.

Overall, pretty good but JD and Saleh proved once again that they cannot make the most difficult decisions.

They’re essentially guaranteeing Mosley $13M+ for one year and punting 2025 to potentially the next regime.

At best, they are betting he has another 2 good years in him.

By contrast, Bobby Wagner (a better overall LB in the same general age range) was guaranteed $6M for this year after roughly the same guarantee last year.

Boooooooooo!

I'm here for you, my friend, in this time of need.

If you need to talk, or vent, or weep openly like a 13 year old girl, I'm here to listen.

P.S. told you Saleh was never getting rid of Mosely.
