JetNation
While most Jets veterans will be reporting to training camp today, offseason addition Haason Reddick will be doing no such thing. This, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Jets acquired Reddick earlier this offseason to bolster their pass rush by adding an edge rusher who has amassed over fifty sacks over the past four seasons. The Jets surrendered a future third-round pick to the Eagles in the deal. Due to make $14.5 million this season, the last on his contract, Reddick reportedly wants a new deal from a team with roughly six million in cap space. It’s only day 1 of camp, but if this were to drag out, things could get ugly. Popular Post LockeJET
In a perfect world, the Eagles who are legit contenders wouldn’t have traded him. But they pretty much let him know that they weren’t giving him the monster pay day he craves. 4

32EBoozer
Pussy won't bet on himself. No veteran leadership with this guy. I'd guarantee 1/2 the contract, in case he blows out his knee in camp. That's probably what he's worried about. If JD wants a Comp Pick for him, he needs to be on the field.

But to knowingly trade for a guy you knew would be a potential holdout (he's been wanting a new deal since March) without negotiating a deal at that time is negligent. Better plan would have been to let the Eagles cut him, even if you had to contend with the open market for his services. Getting him into the building early wasn't worth a 3rd round pick. 8

The player was pretty upfront on wanting a new deal. This is entirely on the Jets for not doing their homework (again) on the player. Reeks of pure laziness on the Jets end. 2 2

Jets traded for him. Now throw him the guarantee-bone for 2024 and let's go. No need for this. 6

Popular Post Larz
Sucks that the jets don’t have a young edge player trying to break into the starting lineup that could seize the opportunity to get Reddick’s reps. damn 2

OtherwiseHappyinLife
To be fair, we do NOT know what he / his agent told the jets before the trade. We can only reasonably assume there was either (1) some form of miscommunication, (2) an outright lie from the player, or (3) a failed game of chess by JD/Saleh. Unless Reddick outright lied about his intentions - he might have - another misplay from our leadership.

Youd think the Jets would have gotten something in writing outside of just inheriting the contract he doesn’t want to play on before making a trade like this. 1
